Final WWE WrestleMania 39 Predictions for John Cena, Sami Zayn, Brock Lesnar and More
WrestleMania 39 feels like it could be one of the most monumental entries in the prestigious event's history as WWE had laid the groundwork for a new era.
Even with a simple eye test, the two-night card is absolutely stacked. There's even a notably lessened emphasis on celebrities and outsiders getting action via an official match.
It's only fitting that this particular Mania seems to have a passing-of-the-torch theme, with it serving as Triple H's first foray into the company's biggest event while serving as head of creative.
Keeping this eye on the future in mind, let's look at the biggest matches on the card and final predictions based on what the storylines have told us so far, what might make for the best long-term outcomes and still make for great in-the-moment results.
John Cena vs. Austin Theory
1 of 6This is an incredible matchup for many reasons.
For one, current United States champion Austin Theory is constantly compared to John Cena, and rightfully so. That has made this a wishlist item for Mania that WWE heard and granted.
Two, Cena has plenty of history with the U.S. title. This is the opening match of Mania, and the only other time Cena has opened (WrestleMania 20), he won the very same title with a triumph over Big Show. He has extensive history with it beyond that, including the ever-memorable open challenge series that helped guys like Kevin Owens debut.
This match is going to be all about getting Theory over in a big way, fittingly letting him retain the same title that helped Cena so early in his historic run.
Prediction: Austin Theory
Brock Lesnar vs. Omos
2 of 6There is something visually stunning about Brock Lesnar, of all human beings, looking small against an opponent in a ring.
And that's what fans will see at Mania when Lesnar takes on the 7'3", 403-pound Omos.
While it's technically a spectacle match in a traditional Mania sense, there's zero chance WWE doesn't let it be more than that. Omos has had his struggles getting over, but the fact remains he's a 28-year-old prospect who only started training in 2019.
Meaning, he's got loads of potential as the next actual giant to appear in WWE programming consistently. And he'll look believable in beating down Lesnar, especially because of the GOAT contender's amazing selling.
Maybe Bobby Lashley gets involved to help reform The Hurt Business in the process, but this one is all about Omos.
Prediction: Omos
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens vs. The Usos
3 of 6The storytelling, acting and care that have gone into the overarching Bloodline saga from Sami Zayn and Jey Uso of The Usos have created a unified tag title match that could easily main event the second night of most WrestleManias.
All four Superstars will have to settle for the main event of Night 1 at best, but it will still technically be the first time a tag match has main-evented Mania in decades.
The match itself will be fun and especially interesting in terms of if and how Jey ends up swinging the outcome. But it feels inevitable that Zayn and Kevin Owens will cap off this friendship-renewing run with a championship triumph while also playing a big role in the potential downfall of Roman Reigns by removing two more guys from his side.
We'll see what the fallout is as far as the Usos if they lose, but having two long-running friends in Zayn and Owens holding the unified titles is a good way to make sure the tag division remains a strength, not an afterthought.
Prediction: Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens

Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns
5 of 6The beauty of the build for the showdown between Cody Rhodes and Reigns is the diverse, must-see nature of the outcomes to either result.
If Rhodes snags the unified titles from Reigns, fans will get to see a new champion take on fresh challengers while potentially splitting the titles or seeing a new one created. Reigns will have to deal with the aftermath of the Bloodline's collapse, maybe while working a reduced schedule.
If Reigns retains, though, he gets to deal with that possible Bloodline fallout while keeping the door open for The Rock, never mind hitting the 1,000-day mark (imagine that music hitting on the Raw after Mania while Reigns tells fans to acknowledge him). Rhodes would fall into beloved underdog status after failing on his first try to win the title his father never did. Maybe that sets him up to win it at SummerSlam, his father's first pay-per-view all the way back in 1989?
While some fans might feel like Reigns winning is just an attempt at a cheap swerve, there's plenty of meat left on the proverbial bone for the Bloodline. Babyface champions are notoriously hard to book and keep over, so there's a chance a Rhodes win is a great moment that quickly becomes problematic if he loses momentum just feuding with normal Superstars. A Reigns win would keep him in undeniable chase mode, which is good for everyone.
WWE really can't go wrong here, which is a testament to the storytelling that has weaved one of the best pro wrestling tales ever. But the allure of the 1,000-day mark and what comes after that makes Reigns arguably the more appealing winner.
Prediction: Roman Reigns
