Steven Jackson Injury: Update on St. Louis Rams Star's Arm Injury

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson left Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers with an arm injury and is now questionable to return according to a rotoworld.com report.

Fantasy Impact

Given that it's Week 17 and the Rams are facing the league's top rush defense in the 49ers, most fantasy owners should have benched Jackson in anticipation of a rough performance. But if he is in anyone's lineup, don't expect much production from your RB slot.

Jackson left the game with 76 yards rushing on 16 carries. He was ineffective in the passing game, catching just one ball for 15 yards.

Who's the Backup?

The backup is Cadillac Williams, who has just nine yards on two carries thus far in Week 17's game against the 49ers. Williams has just 344 yards rushing this season on 80 carries, so don't expect any explosion from Williams out of the back field the rest of the way.

Devastation Scale (1-10)

4: The season is over after today, and the Rams are primed for a solid pick in the draft next April, so the loss of Jackson will have to be dealt with over the offseason. He has months to get healthy depending on the nature of the injury. But he won't be available for the Rams the rest of the way Sunday, so that hurts their shot at a 3-13 year.

Timeline for Return

Jackson must undergo x-rays after taking a helmet to the arm, and is questionable to return to the game. Given the situation and the huge 49ers lead, there is no real rush to get him back onto the field.

What They're Saying

Jackson was said to be in pain on the sideline after taking a shot, and those on Twitter and around the NFL world suspect his day and season is over.
