Brock Lesnar Back to WWE? 10 Wrestlers He'd Have a Great Storyline With

Michael PrunkaDec 31, 2011

Brock Lesnar came on to the WWE scene back on March 18, 2002. It was the Raw after WrestleMania X8, when Lesnar debuted by attacking Maven, Spike Dudley, and Al Snow. Within the next three months, Lesnar would experience one of the most meteoric rises in WWE history.

Surely enough, he was "The Next Big Thing."

Over the next two years, Lesnar would feud with some of the biggest names the WWE had to offer. From Goldberg, to Kurt Angle, to even Hulk Hogan, Lesnar had faced them all.

In this short span of time, Lesnar would also capture some of the WWE's most prized titles. He won the 2002 King of the Ring and the 2003 Royal Rumble. Most notably, he is a three time WWE Champion and the youngest wrestler to ever become WWE Champion.

A little over a year ago, Brock Lesnar lost his UFC heavyweight championship to Cain Velasquez at the UFC 121 pay-per-view. Following the show, The Undertaker and and Lesnar exchanged a few words on TV. This spawned some rumors of Lesnar returning to the WWE for a WrestleMania match against Undertaker. However, those rumors were swiftly killed by Dana White.

Now that Brock Lesnar has officially retired from MMA, the rumors of a WWE return have again began to circulate. This time around, it seems that a Lesnar WWE return is much more probable. The only thing holding him back is his contract with UFC. Could we see him return to the WWE again in the near future? If so, what Superstars would he compete against?

It's been over seven years since Brock Lesnar has wrestled in the WWE. There are a lot of new, young wrestlers on the roster now. If Lesnar does, indeed, return, there are quite a few wrestlers that Lesnar could have a great feud with.

Sheamus

1 of 10

With the recent feuds of Mark Henry vs. Sheamus and Mark Henry vs. Big Show, it seems big man feuds are "in" in the WWE again.

Sheamus vs. Brock Lesnar could be an excellent big man feud. Both Lesnar and Sheamus are incredibly athletic for their size. A series of matches between these two has the potential to be great.

In addition to that, Sheamus and Lesnar have experienced similar rises in the WWE. Just like Lesnar, Sheamus had a meteoric rise to the WWE Championship. It took Lesnar 160 days following his debut to capture the title while it took Sheamus 166.

Mark Henry

Since Mark Henry has been on a role with his big man feuds, I can definitely see him having an entertaining feud with a returning Brock Lesnar.

Henry has been one of the most dominant forces in the WWE this year. He has dominated the likes of Vladimir Kozlov, Big Show, and Randy Orton.

In addition, Henry is one of the few who has a noticeable size advantage on Lesnar. The sheer fact that Brock Lesnar could actually be built as an underdog in this feud is interesting.

Jack Swagger

Jack Swagger is another wrestler that could have a spectacular feud with Brock Lesnar.

Swagger and Lesnar are very similar in size. Where Lesnar is 6'3 and 266 pounds, Swagger is 6'5 and 260 pounds.

In addition, the two of them come from very illustrated collegiate wrestling backgrounds. That said, they have the size to hit the big power moves but can also incorporate their collegiate wrestling background into the match.

Drew McIntyre

4 of 10

When Brock Lesnar was introduced to the WWE Universe, Paul Heyman said he was "The Next Big Thing."

When Drew McIntyre was introduced to the WWE Universe, Vince McMahon himself billed McIntyre as a "future world champion."

As a fan of both men, I'd love to see a feud pitting "The Next Big Thing" against "The Chosen One." If the WWE is willing to acknowledge Lesnar's past with Heyman, the feud could even be based around who is better at picking future stars: Heyman or McMahon?

Wade Barrett

5 of 10

Wade Barrett, like and Brock Lesnar, climbed the ranks quickly after debuting in the WWE. The only difference is that Barrett did not manage to become world champion as quickly as them. Or at all, for that matter.

There is a huge difference between Barrett and Lesnar, though. Lesnar had the endorsement of Paul Heyman while Barrett has never been endorsed by anyone. Barrett had to work his way up from the status of NXT rookie to main event status, and managed to do so in less than a year.

Sure, Barrett has dropped down the card a bit since cutting his ties with the Nexus and the Corre. However, Barrett is now all on his own and more dangerous than ever. If Lesnar were to return, could he be the next stop for the "Barrett Barrage?"

Dolph Ziggler

6 of 10

Depending on when Brock Lesnar returns, he could be the perfect person to propel Dolph Ziggler into the WWE Championship scene.

As we've seen in the last year or two, Ziggler is most dangerous when someone is standing between him and championship gold. If Lesnar returns and resumes his contention for the WWE Championship, he'd be putting a target on his back.

A long term feud with Brock Lesnar could really put Ziggler on the map. Going over a decorated wrestler like Lesnar make Ziggler an immediate contender for the WWE Championship.

The best part of this feud would be the quality of matches these two would put on. Ziggler is quickly establishing himself as one of the best wrestlers in the WWE. Like Lesnar, Ziggler also has a background in collegiate wrestling. I would imagine that their styles would mesh very well. There is no doubt that a series of matches with Lesnar would be incredibly entertaining.

Randy Orton

7 of 10

Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar both got started in the WWE around the same time. Lesnar quickly rose to the top with Paul Heyman in his corner while Orton rose to the top with the help of his Evolution teammates Batista, Triple H, and Ric Flair.

Now all on his own, Orton has become a mainstay in the WWE main event scene. As a nine time world champion and the winner of the 2009 Royal Rumble, his career is arguably more decorated than Lesnar's.

If Lesnar were to storm back into the WWE as a heel, Randy Orton would be the perfect person to stand up to him. Unlike Lesnar, Orton actually stuck around in the WWE all these years. "The Viper" would be the perfect person to put Lesnar in his place. But would the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history be able to stop the youngest WWE Champion in history?

John Cena

8 of 10

When Brock Lesnar left the WWE over seven years ago, he was at the top as WWE Champion while John Cena was just beginning his rise to the top of the WWE.

The two have met a few times in the past. At Backlash 2003, Cena actually contended for Lesnar's WWE Championship, only to have Lesnar retain.

A rekindling of the rivalry between these two, especially if Cena is defending the WWE Championship, would be a perfect "full circle" kind of feud for Lesnar upon his return. Cena would be the perfect person to show Lesnar that things aren't the same as when he left.

CM Punk

9 of 10

CM Punk is the best wrestler in the world. The WWE Championship he wears around his waist proves it. 2011 has been a breakout year for the "Straightedge Savior" and he took advantage of every opportunity he got.

In his epic June 27, 2011 promo, Punk mentioned how he is, like Brock Lesnar, a "Paul Heyman guy." Perhaps Lesnar could return as a heel by attacking WWE Champion CM Punk in an effort to reclaim his WWE fame.

No matter how they choose to execute it, I'm sure a feud between two of Heyman's golden boys would be very entertaining. Especially in this case, since Punk and Lesnar are both tremendous athletes, a series of matches to determine which of them is Paul Heyman's greatest endorsement.

The Undertaker

10 of 10

This time last year, the wrestling world was abuzz with rumors of Brock Lesnar being Undertaker's WrestleMania 27 opponent. With their feud from 2002, combined with this epic stare-down at UFC 121, it seemed that this storyline could pretty much write itself.

With the only thing between Brock Lesnar and a WWE return being what's left of his contract with UFC, a WrestleMania match with Undertaker is now more probable than ever. With 'Taker's career on it's last leg, this match has got to happen sooner rather than later.

While there are a ton of great feuds Lesnar could take part in, none would be more high profile than a culmination of his rivalry with Undertaker on the "Grandest Stage of Them All."
