Was Brock Lesnar's Reign of Dominance Overrated?

Nicholas GossDec 31, 2011

Brock Lesnar has been one of the most popular wrestling/UFC fighters in recent memory, and the former NCAA champion's reign of dominance was certainly not overrated.

His spectacular accomplishments go as far back as 2002 when he defeated The Rock at Summerslam to capture the WWE championship.

Although he would later lose his title to the Big Show, Lesnar would recapture his crown against Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania XIX in 2003.

When Lesnar lost that title, he got it back later that year at Smackdown when he again defeated Angle, this time in a 60-minute Iron Man Match.

Lesnar's resiliency is truly admirable, and it's one of the many strengths that has led him to a remarkable career.

When he's faced with a tough challenge, he rises up and gives his best possible effort. He doesn't fight people for show or anything like that. He wants to be the best.

In 2008, Lesnar earned the UFC heavyweight title against Randy Couture at UFC 91 with a TKO in Round 2, cementing his place among the best MMA fighters at the time.

Lesnar defended his title well for the next couple of years but ultimately lost his heavyweight title in October of 2010 to Cain Velasquez.

On Friday night Lesnar lost to Alistair Overeem via TKO in UFC 141 and retired from UFC shortly after.

As we look back on Lesnar's brilliant career we must not forget how dominant and powerful he was. His reign of winning was not overrated, and he will always be remembered as a tremendous UFC and WWE star.
