It Begins: Is Brock Lesnar Returning to the WWE on January 2, 2012?

Josh LoganDec 30, 2011

Brock Lesnar made an announcement that he was retiring from the UFC Octagon this evening after he lost to Alistair Overeem in the first round of their bout at UFC 141.

This leaves open questions as to what might be happening as the new year comes.

For weeks many people have been calculating and "guestimating" who might be the mystery man or woman returning to the WWE, bringing with them an air of change.

It has been said that it must be Chris Jericho...with the date being the "2"nd and it's the new "Y"ear and the month is "J"anuary.  Spelling out Y2J, but even Jericho himself has told fans on Twitter that he is not returning to the WWE any time soon.  Go look it up on Twitter for yourself if you don't believe me. Jericho is suspecting that Lesnar is the answer.

Another name is Dave Bautista.  Now "The Animal" has been noted as saying the WWE needs to change from their PG ways and return to something more edgy.  So will he be returning to bring the change that CM Punk has been trying to bring. It seems highly unlikely with Dave staring in The Scorpion King 3 and his attempts at starting an MMA Dojo in Florida.  It does seem doubtful that it is him.

There are other names as well, like Shane McMahon, or Kharma, or even The Undertaker, but I do not feel the need to go any further into why it may or may not be them.

I want to express why it might be Brock Lesnar and why it might have been in the works for some time.

Everyone knows that Lesnar has been dealing with issues of diverticulitis.  And how long can someone with such issues continue to keep up such a brutal sport like MMA.  Apparently not long.
The WWE seemingly has changed some of their view points on how many days a year some of their performers work as they are giving adequate time off to some stars to heal and recuperate.  As seen with the Big Show, Kane, Triple H, and The Undertaker.  This less hard schedule could easily work well for Lesnar.  And the money isn't half bad either.

Brock has also partnered with the WWE this year, becoming a character in the WWE '12 video game.  Might he actually appease the fans who long to actually see him wrestle in a squared circle again.

Also his retirement seems a little brash and quick to me, though some MMA combatants are starting to retire these days.

Could this retirement spell that Lesnar has been planning with Vince McMahon a great return to reclaim his throne as The Next Big Thing?

I don't know.  But tell me this, are you questioning whether or not he is now that you've seen some of these points?
