American Century Golf: Patrick Mahomes, Steph Curry Day 2 Tee Times, TV Schedule
Stephen Curry has showcased an impressive golf game at the American Century Championship in recent years, and he again got off to a strong start at the 2022 edition of the tournament. The Golden State Warriors point guard is tied for 10th after Friday's opening round.
However, it was an athlete from a different sport who had the best showing at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nevada, on Friday.
Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie is in first place after the opening day of the three-round celebrity tournament, which uses a modified stableford format awarding points based on performance. Oshie has 21 points, one ahead of former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder and former LPGA golfer Annika Sorenstam, who are tied for second.

Second-Round Preview
Oshie may be in the lead after the first round, but he has plenty of strong competition close behind him on the leaderboard. That includes a pair of former American Century Championship winners.
Mulder, who is tied for second with 20 points, was the champion of the event three consecutive years from 2015-17. He hasn't won the tournament since, but he's always among the top contenders. And he's set himself up well for another strong showing this weekend.
Former NFL quarterback and current broadcaster Tony Romo is a two-time winner of the event, capturing back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019. He's off to a strong start again this year, as he has 18 points, tied for fourth with former NFL QB Carson Palmer, former NHL center Mike Modano and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen.
Former tennis player Mardy Fish (the 2020 champion) is tied for 14th after the opening round, while former NBA player and coach Vinny Del Negro (the 2021 champion) is tied for 17th.
But they're all looking up the leaderboard at Oshie, who tied for 39th at last year's American Century Championship. If he builds off his early success, he could end up with a much better finish this time.
"I was just hitting some shots. The putter was really hot tonight," Oshie said, per Jim Krajewski of the Reno Gazette Journal. "The front nine, I really thought maybe I would just have a really good nine holes, and then kind of fall off. But ended up coming in strong."
While Mulder and Romo are likely to keep playing well this weekend, another golfer to keep an eye on is Sorenstam. She's tuning up for the Senior LPGA Championship later this month, and while the 51-year-old has never won the American Century Championship, she came close in her two previous showings.
In 2014, Sorenstam tied for second. Last year, she finished fourth. And this year, she's only one point out of the lead heading into the second round.
"Overall, my game, it was a little mixed bag," Sorenstam said, per Krajewski. "I hit some really good shots. Missed a few on the par threes. I think the par threes got me in the bunker and didn't make up-and-down."
But there's a good chance Sorenstam fares even better in the second and third rounds, especially now that she again has a feel for the course at Edgewood Tahoe. She could be the top golfer to watch throughout the weekend.
