Floyd Mayweather Should Fear a Concentrated Manny Pacquiao
A Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao bout would change boxing history forever. Money records would be smashed, as would television figures. We are looking at a possible Fight of the Century.
The proposed fight will, nonetheless, lack a mythical aspect seen in fights before pay-per-view was introduced in late 20th century. Visions of the "Rumble in the Jungle" and the "Thrilla' in Manila" spring to mind when thinking of the great days of mystical boxing. There was a particular uncertainty about boxing back then.
Boxing has now changed. It is a greedy, materialistic sport. The suggested bout will epitomize this new world of boxing. Purses will be substantial, pay-per-view viewers will be sat in the four corners of the earth and media coverage will be immoderate.
At this stage in the discussions, Floyd Mayweather seems to be shying away from the contest with Pacquiao. Whenever progress seems to be made, Mayweather finds another minute, negative detail to expose and delay the fight. He is frightened.
"Money" Mayweather knows he will lose his undefeated record to the lethal Filipino. Pacquiao has stayed calm despite all the coverage. He knows the time will come when he has a chance to teach Mayweather a lesson.
Mayweather's record speaks for itself. He is undefeated in 42 fights and has been one of the greatest pound-for-pound boxers of all time. Now he will face his greatest match and the attempts to disrupt Pacquiao have fallen on deaf ears.
With a looming 90-day jail sentence looming over Mayweather and a confirmed fight between Pacquiao and Marquez to take place next year, the fight may have to be delayed for even a longer time than people thought. Pacquiao will stay focused, Mayweather will finally be defeated.
