Women's PGA Championship 2022: Tee Times, Dates, TV Schedule, LPGA Prize Money

It's been rare to see repeat winners at major tournaments in women's golf in recent years. Since the start of 2018, the 21 majors over that span have been won by 19 different golfers—a stretch that has included 16 first-time major champions.

Minjee Lee is trying to end the parity. Earlier this month, she won the 2022 U.S. Women's Open only 11 months after her first major victory at the 2021 Evian Championship. Now, the 26-year-old Australian seeks her third win in a span of five majors at this week's Women's PGA Championship.

The past seven Women's PGA Championships have all been won by a different golfer, five of whom had never previously captured a major title. This year's tournament, which gets underway Thursday, is being held at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. The course has been the site of five men's majors, but this will be the first time it has hosted a women's major.

In 2021, Nelly Korda had an impressive showing at the Women's PGA Championship. She matched an event record by finishing 19-under par (becoming the fourth woman to do so at the tournament) and captured her first major title, winning by three strokes.

In 2022, Korda will look to become the first repeat winner of the Women's PGA Championship since Inbee Park won three in a row from 2013-15.

Earlier this year, Korda was diagnosed with a blood clot in her left arm that caused her to miss two months of tournaments, including the Chevron Championship, the first of the five majors on the calendar. The 23-year-old American returned to action earlier this month at the U.S. Women's Open, where she tied for eighth.

Korda is prepared to try to win her second major title this week in Bethesda.

"I don't think I've changed a bunch in the past year," Korda said, per Max Schreiber of Golf Channel. "In a sense, I think I've just become a little bit more consistent and confident that I can win a major championship."

However, there is a lot of other talented golfers in the field who will try to prevent Korda from going back-to-back.

Minjee Lee has been playing tremendous golf, as she showed by winning the U.S. Women's Open. She's finished 25th or worse at the Women's PGA Championship each of the past five years, but she could be poised for a much better showing this week.

Lydia Ko hasn't won a major since 2016, but she's been on a roll of late, having finished in the top five in four of her past five tournaments, which includes a fifth-place showing at the U.S. Women's Open. It could be time for the 25-year-old to end her major drought and win the Women's PGA Championship for the first time.

Jin Young Ko is No. 1 in the Women's World Golf Rankings. However, her two lone victories at major tournaments both came in 2019, when she won the Chevron Championship and the Evian Championship. The 26-year-old has never finished better than 11th at the Women's PGA Championship, but that could change soon.

And then there's Park, who again has an opportunity to try to make history at this year's Women's PGA Championship. Although she hasn't won the event since 2015, her three wins at the tournament are tied for the second-most of any golfer. The 33-year-old could tie Mickey Wright for the most wins in the event's history with a fourth victory.

Or somebody new could win the Women's PGA Championship. With the way women's golf majors have gone of late, that wouldn't surprise anybody.
