Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Lacey Evans Returning to WWE Soon
Lacey Evans hasn't competed in a match in over a year, but her absence from WWE programming reportedly may be on the verge of ending.
According to PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson, Evans is scheduled to be present for Friday's episode of SmackDown in Milwaukee, and the plan is for her to return "shortly."
Evans' absence was because of maternity leave, as she gave birth to her second child in October.
A six-month turnaround between giving birth and wrestling may seem quick, but it isn't unprecedented. Ronda Rousey gave birth to her daughter in September and was back in the ring four months later, winning the women's Royal Rumble match.
If Evans is returning imminently, SmackDown would be a logical landing spot for her since Charlotte Flair is the reigning SmackDown women's champion.
Evans and Charlotte were feuding before Evans went on maternity leave, as the villainous Evans had convinced Charlotte's father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, to be her manager.
There was never a true resolution to the angle, but WWE could go back to it with the roles reversed since Flair is firmly a heel currently.
Based on how quickly Rousey was able to get back in the ring, there is no reason not to buy the idea that Evans could be back soon as well.
L.A. Knight to Be Called Up as Manager?
Several NXT Superstars are rumored to be making the move to the main roster soon, but perhaps none is more intriguing than L.A. Knight.
Fightful Select (h/t WrestlingInc's Marc Middleton) reported that a Knight call-up has been discussed within WWE, although not necessarily as an in-ring performer.
It was noted that there has been talk of Knight being a manager on the main roster, but it is unclear if that is the preferred plan or just one of many, including others that would see him continue to wrestle.
Knight isn't a typical NXT call-up in that he is 39 years old, but he does seemingly possess all the qualities WWE chairman Vince McMahon would look for in a top star.
He looks like a million bucks, is oozing with charisma, cuts intense and believable promos and can handle himself well in the ring.
As a result, Knight has become arguably the most over babyface in all of NXT over the past few months after making the transition from a heel role.
Before Adam Cole left WWE and signed with AEW as a free agent in September, there were rumors that WWE wanted to make him a manager on the main roster as well.
Cole later said he met with McMahon and was never told of any plans to become a manager.
While Knight would thrive as a manager thanks to his promo ability, the idea of WWE wanting him to be a manager should be sold, especially after what Cole said previously.
It is possible that the manager idea was brought up, but the creative process likely yields many ideas for each Superstar.
Based on how successful Knight has been in NXT, calling him up and letting him be a fixture in the midcard out of the gates would be the smart direction for WWE to take.
Ripley, Ciampa Considered for Edge's Stable
Edge and Damian Priest formed an alliance at WrestleMania 38, and there may be more Superstars set to join them.
According to Fightful Select (h/t Middleton), there has been talk within WWE of having Rhea Ripley and Tommaso Ciampa fill out the heel stable alongside Edge and Priest.
Edge is a strong candidate to lead a stable given his status as a WWE Hall of Famer and top current star, as well as his ability to elevate those around him with his mic skills and in-ring prowess.
Priest was an ideal first entrant into the group since he has immense potential that Edge can help unlock.
Ripley and Ciampa are in the same boat, and they possess the type of dark qualities that would make them natural fits alongside Edge and Priest.
It is possible that Ripley already began her journey toward joining the group on Monday's Raw, as she walked out in frustration after Liv Morgan got pinned in a tag team match against Sasha Banks and Naomi.
Ripley later apologized to Morgan and said she had gotten them a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match against Banks and Naomi for next week, but that may be when Ripley turns on her and eventually joins the stable.
Meanwhile, Ciampa had his final NXT match at NXT Stand & Deliver last weekend when he lost to Tony D'Angelo.
Since Ciampa is 36 years of age, the possibility of him getting lost in the shuffle rather than pushed as a rising star on the main roster is possible, but joining Edge would take that out of the equation.
Working with Edge is never a bad thing for anybody, so Ripley and Ciampa joining him and Priest is a huge buy.
