James Harden Is Top-Selling Jersey in NBA After Trade to 76ers for Ben Simmons
The Philadelphia 76ers' acquisition of James Harden has given the 2018 NBA MVP a big boost in jersey sales.
Per Justin Grasso of SI Now, Harden has the top-selling jersey on Fanatics since the Feb. 10 trade sent him from the Brooklyn Nets to Philadelphia.
According to a Jan. 22 report from NBA.com, Harden's Nets jersey wasn't among the top 15 in sales for the first half of the regular season through the league's official store.
After months of rumors and speculation, the Sixers were finally able to land Harden before the trade deadline. They sent Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and first-round draft picks in 2022 and 2027 to Brooklyn for Harden and Paul Millsap.
Harden has yet to play for the 76ers since the trade because of a hamstring injury. The 10-time All-Star was having an inconsistent season with the Nets prior to the deal. He averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 assists and 8.0 rebounds per game but was shooting a career-low 33.2 percent from three-point range in 44 starts.
Expectations are off the charts for Philadelphia with Harden and Joel Embiid joining forces. FanDuel dropped the team's NBA title odds from +1100 (bet $100 to win $1,100) to +550 after the trade was finalized.
Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has hinted that Harden's debut could come Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He last appeared in a game on Feb. 2 against the Sacramento Kings, scoring four points on 2-of-11 shooting in 37 minutes.
Philadelphia (35-23) will come out of the All-Star break in third place in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls (both 38-21).
