Oregon Football Uniforms: Rose Bowl Uniforms Make Ducks Look Like Darth Vader
Chip Kelley, I am your father.
That’s what every Oregon Duck will be telling their coach once they suit up in their latest uniforms.
When the No. 5-ranked Ducks march on the field to take on No. 10 Wisconsin in the 2012 Rose Bowl, they will be doing so in the darkest Nike Pro Combat uniform yet.
The uniform is almost entirely black aside from the yellow Nike swoosh and yellow outlined numbers. This isn’t just regular black either; it’s the glossy kind that makes it look shiny. If the style looks similar it’s because it’s the same uniform technology that was used in last January’s National Championship Game.
When you sport the incredibly dark visor on top of the all-black uniform, all that’s missing is a cloak/cape. If there was some sort of cape hanging on the back of the jersey than each player would officially be Dart Vader.
Wouldn’t this uniform be more appropriate for a team closer to Hollywood like UCLA?
I think the Ducks should embrace the bad guy persona and start waving a fake lightsaber at a Badger anytime they get a first down.
Nike has deemed the uniforms “the most advanced football system ever assembled”; I say they are giving a shoutout to a movie that came out over 30 years ago.
Regardless of what fictional movie character you think the jerseys look like, it’s hard to deny the coolness. The sleek black shines when you look at it. Combine that with the bright yellow outlined numbers that really stand out while complementing the strong shade of black in the process.
The gold standard for college uniforms has raised the bar once again and the Ducks have officially won the battle of best uniforms in the 2011 college football season.
