UFC 133 Results: Brian Ebersole Stops Dennis Hallman in the First Round

MMA veterans Brian Ebersole (48-14-1) and Dennis Hallman (43-14-2) took a combined record of 90-27-3 into the Octagon at UFC 133, but only Ebersole would walk away with the victory. The bout went down on the main card in Philadelphia, Penn.

Hallman attacked Ebersole with a quick takedown attempt and secured it while transitioning to the back of the 30-year-old. Ebersole would get free and reverse the position but put himself in a guillotine choke halfway through the round. He broke free and remained in Hallman's guard.

Ebersole would unleash a flurry of hammerfists and elbows from the guard to finish the fight at 4:28 of the first round. Hallman wasn't knocked unconscious, but he wasn't intelligently defending himself and had his guard down.

Ebersole picks up his second consecutive UFC victory with the first being against another MMA veteran in Chris "Lights Out" Lytle. He is on a nine-fight win streak overall. This was his first fight in the U.S. since 2007.

Hallman went into the bout on a two-fight win streak but now has to look at where he is at in his career. He is 35 and has had a long and storied career fighting in the some of the biggest organizations in MMA. His biggest wins came against Matt Hughes, who he defeated twice inside 30 seconds each time.

Ebersole puts himself into a spot against a mid-tier welterweight, and there are several he can be matched up with. Other intriguing matchups may be against one of the up-and-comers in the division, including Rory MacDonald, Johny Hendricks and John Hathaway.
