Welcome to Barney Corkhill's Unofficial World Club Championship!

Here, I will keep track of club games to find out who is unofficially the "best team in the world". For this I will use the same theory as the Unofficial World Championship. This means that every match for the club that holds this is a title match. Lose, and they lose the title to their opponents. Win or draw, and they retain.

So, who will my starters be for the best club in the world? Well, in a perhaps controversial way of choosing them, I will use the top ranked team from the recent Bleacher Report European Club Rankings.

This happens to be Chelsea. They may not, in your opinion, be the best club in the world right now, but they came top of the European Club Rankings, so they are the best in Europe according to the majority of people.

I understand that there are probably better teams in South America as well, but my knowledge of them is very limited. Chelsea will be easy to follow, calculate, and the title could be with any team in Europe by the end of the season.

Indeed, it could be at any team in the world if somehow Man United carry it into the FIFA World Club Championships.

So today marks the beginning of Barney Corkhill's Unofficial World Club Championship (UWCC), and the holders are Chelsea.

Their first defence comes tomorrow as they face Portsmouth in the Carling Cup.
