PS3 XBOX 360 WII: 2010 MOST ANTICIPATED GAMES
Let's put the debating, predictions, opinions, rumors, and rumors aside, and focus on something that's fun for everyone. Gaming. That's right gamers are everywhere, and are growing rapidly. I am sure there are tons of gamers who view, or are members on this very site, so I'm here to add some fun to the mix and give gaming its just deserve.
Let's face it, most of us out there love gaming, so I will start to become the unofficial spokesman for gaming on this site. Help me get another Category set up for gaming. Oh, and if IGN, GAMETRAILERS, KOTAKU, GAMESPOT, GAME INFORMER, 1UP, DESTRUCTOID, or any other gaming site is looking, I will be providing a bunch of articles on gaming/wrestling from here on out, so check out my work, or hire me, whatever comes first, lol. Anyway, if you're a fan of the PS3, 360, or Wii, you can't deny that each console has some great games coming, not only this year, but the next year too. However, we aren't all rich, so we need to chop down that pile and focus on the best of the best. Her is a list of the top ten anticipated games coming soon this year. I will begin with one console per article. If you haven't yet seen my top Wii games you can view that article HERE Now , on to my part 2...
PLAYSTATION 3
1 of 12
Now, on to the PS3. I have to say that there press conference was good. On some levels I thought it won, just because I didn’t like that Nintendo was focusing so much on the 3DS, however, the Nintendo conference rolled out the box with a lot of good games.
PS3 had good games, and they didn’t focus too much time on the PS Move, which I liked, but they put out a ton of montages. It took people talking about it for me to think about and say, yeah, there right, they did put out a ton of montages.
But, regardless, you can’t deny the PS3 has a lot of anticipated games coming to its console. Now because exclusivity is running rare these days, you will see a couple of multiplatform games listed, with reasons as to why I included them. Boy this list was hard and any of these games could go either way. PS3 and 360 weren't as clear cut to me as Nintendo, so don't kill me, lol. On to the top ten.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
2 of 12
Medal of Honor is a placed here basically because there are about a thousand First Person Shooters out there. I know that this game has some great buzz but based on the fact that C.O.D is coming out the same year and people will kill for that game, I just feel that this game only makes the honorable mention. I have read reviews on the beta and it is not looking good, but it is the beta.
For the first time in ten years the Medal of Honor franchise is coming out of the WWII era and into the war torn Afghanistan of today. You will play as a Tier 1 operator under the National Command Authority, taking on missions no one else can. The team worked very closely with Tier 1 operators from the Spec Ops Community.
This game has been touted as being "the most authentic modern war experience", this based on their site. Only time will tell if they do live up to the hype. Medal of Honor was out before Call of Duty, but, Call of Duty was able to take advantage of the flaws and make a better game. Now, the roles are reversed.
Medal of Honor has a chance to capitalize on any flaws that Modern Warfare may have had, so they can deliver a true experience. The question is, Did Modern Warfare have Flaws that Medal of Honor can capitalize on?
Secondly, I will put MAFIA II
Set from 1945-1947 in the imaginary city of Empire Bay, this sandbox action adventure sequel follows former vet Vito Scaletta, as he rises through the ranks of the Mafia. The game will have an open-ended game map. There are no restrictions, 50 vehicles, and licensed music from the era.
This game is pretty cut, and dry. To be honest, I played the demo to this game and I have to say that it was good. There was some good gameplay to look forward, and I watched the various trailers, but, I just feel that we have so many games like it. Now, will it be good? I'm sure , but I don't see the buzz. Others have, however, and so this is why it makes the honorable mention.
10. MAX PAYNE
3 of 12
When I started this list I came across a couple of games that were multiplatform. When I started to put together the list I decided to give some of the multiplat's specific destinations like max payne with ps3 and vanquish with Xbox 360 based on specific criteria.
Then, I decided, that it really wasn't fair to do that because it's about most anticipated, and their are a few multiplat's that both PS and Xbox fans want. So, I decided to put them for both consoles.
This game is not one of them, lol. Now, not to say that this game isn't anticipated on Xbox 360, but, out of the list I have for Xbox their was no room for this game.
Max payne, in my opinion, is really remembered on Playstation 2 anyway. It was a great game with an engaging dark story, and introduced the bullet time effect. That is what made the game. I for one remember how I would use this to take down multiple enemies and sit back and say "Man that was bad ass".
Unfortunately, this effect has been done over and over in games since it's inception. So, with that being said, I am really interested in seeing where they will take Max Payne this time, and what they will do to set a new trend in gaming. This game doesn't have a strong buzz at all, but more me I am anticipating this game and what it can do. Who knows it could fall flat, but, with everyone giving little on the plot and gameplay, its definitely got some interest.
9. STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED 2
4 of 12
In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the world was introduced to Darth Vader’s now fugitive apprentice, Starkiller—the unlikely hero who would ignite the flames of rebellion in a galaxy so desperately in need of a champion. In the sequel, Starkiller returns with over-the-top Force powers and embarks on a journey to discover his own identity and to reunite with his one true love, Juno Eclipse.
This game has been said to have taken all the flaws from the first game and eliminated them, given starkiller some new powers, and improved controls. That along with extremely intelligent AI, will put this game in the top ten of anticipated titles. Plus, the music is awesome, lol.
8. PLAYSTATION MOVE
5 of 12
I know, technically I'm speaking of the general controller option, and that is not a game, but, it will roll out with games, catered to, and optionally using this controller. So, I will place all of it into one category. The Playstation Move has garnered a lot of anticipation after last years E3.
Just imagine using this on some great HD games, like a Star Wars or something like that. It would be pretty cool.
However, with this anticipation, there is also some "I'll wait and see" aproach happening. While games like Sorcery and Socom 4 seem cool while using it, we have no idea how it will translate with other games. Also, some games may require Two Move controllers, so when you start adding these items up, be ready to start subtracting a lot, from your wallet.
7. ASSASSIN'S CREED: BROTHERHOOD
6 of 12
Assassin's Creed has grown a hefty audience since its inception. Although the first one was good, it lacked certain aspects that put it over the top. In came AC2, and the team fixed almost all the issues with the first game in one fell swoop, however, it still had something missing.
Now, with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, will all the pieces finally come together. The biggest feature of the game is the anticipated multiplayer. Will the multiplayer live up to the hype? They state "Choose from multiple authentic character classes, each with their own signature weapons and killing moves. With richly-detailed maps and a wide variety of unique multiplayer modes, you’ll never fight the same way twice." But one can only wonder.
The placement on this list is really two things. 1. AC has just come out a year ago, and now we are getting another one. The way they roll these out, how can someone really anticipate a game. 2. We don't know what to expect from the multiplayer.
6. FALLOUT NEW VEGAS
7 of 12
The follow up to the very well received Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas takes place, as the first did, in a post apocalyptic world, three years after that event, but it is not a sequel. This RPG takes you through the desert of Vegas, as you take the role of a courier.
While delivering an unknown package, you find yourself in a shallow grave after being shot in the head by assailants. You must recover the package, investigate, and explore.
Many members of the original Fallout 1, and 2 developed this game with the Fallout 3 engine. However, because the full Fallout 3 team isn't involved, this may be one of the reason's why it has some people wary.
But, rest assured, the new team has worked arduously to ensure that the feel and gameplay stays true to Fallout 3 concept, keeping almost all of the features that made the last installment a household name.
5. DC UNIVERSE ONLINE
8 of 12
When I heard of an MMO coming to a console I was kind of iffy about it. Knowing that it was DC, it made it a whole lot nicer. This game looks good. Man, to be in a City, create a DC type character, and use your powers to fight the villains (or heroes, your choice), is going to be some great stuff.
I thought there might have been a bigger anticipation of this game, but I think the issue is that people don't really know what to expect out of this game. That and the fact that they have to pay $15 a month extra for service, That would throw most people off, but you can't deny there is a lot of anticipation about how the DC Universe will hold up, in your hands.
4. CASTLEVANIA: LORDS OF SHADOW
9 of 12
This game will be the first Console game since Castlevania: Curse of Darkness that wasn't some kind of fighter or downloadable title. Now, not to say that DS and PSP hasn't had it's share of Castlevania games, but, it has been a while since the consoles have had it's share of battling creatures of the night.
When Castlevania was announced to be made by Konami with Kojima involved, people were flying high, but they have come down since finding out that he was just involved as an advisory role. Some people have been pulled away from the fact that it has converted from its classic 2D style, to 3D, and PS3 users are seeing that the look is closer to the ever popular God Of War, which might turn them away.
However, it seems that the team involved was very cognisant of keeping some of what makes Castlevania great by drawing inspiration from earlier titles in the series, most notably Castlevania for the NES, and Super Castlevania IV.
This game has not garnered as much buzz as I hoped, but, I am sure that as we near closer to the launch date, that will change. In any case, taking us to the dark corners of the earth, battling Werewolves and Vampires, sounds like tons of fun to me, and so Castlevania will still hold up as a very anticipated title.
3. C.O.D BLACK OPS
10 of 12
I don't have to tell you what Black OPS is about. The World is in peril and it's up to you blah blah blah. Let's just gun some dudes down, and hit the multiplayer for hours of gameplay, lol. There are people probably waiting on line as we speak for this game. Black OPS has already broken the record set by Modern Warfare 2 for pre-sales, and still selling.
This game will be big and the anticipation of the FPS is strong. However, it is yet another FPS, and these are anticipated titles on the PS3. It runs strong on the list, but, in my opinion, this is the PS3 list, and I believe that the next 2 games are just a little bit more anticipated for this console, especially since they're exclusives.
2. GRAN TURISMO 5
11 of 12
The placement of this game on this list is simple, it has been pushed back so many times, that it kind of lost its lust. We saw it last year at E3 and there was nothing accompanied with it, no dates or anything. Cut to this year and the excitement is building more and more. Now, we finally got a date, and some more details on the gameplay.
This game will feature over 1000 cars, wow, that is the most in the series. It has intricate details of every car, and they added the biggest sport in the U.S.A, NASCAR. With 20 locations including Madrid, Tuscany, and Rome, you can ride in style. This game looks great, and there are a ton of features (check out the official site, it's pretty impressive), so there is no doubt that it will live up to the hype. Gran Turismo is one of, if not the best sim driving game, and this one will not disappoint.
1. LITTLE BIG PLANET 2
12 of 12
The first LBP gave the world the concept of Play, Create, Share, and showed how exciting a SackBoy can be. You can not deny that this game looks pretty awesome. Taking the reigns of the first game and just expanding it ten fold, this platformer can now become a platform for games as they state on their site.
Just viewing the latest trailer you can see the multitude of games that you can create with the new tools given to you. For me, the best is the racing games you can create, going back to the days of 'Super Off Road' on NES. Play, Create, Share has just went to a whole new level. The possibilities are endless in this game, and you can't deny that this is probably one of the most anticipated games of this year.
So, there you have it folks. As you know all of this is subjective and these games can be placed in any order really. If you love these games coming out this year, wait till next year. There is no thought on the #1 for me there, THE LAST GUARDIAN #1.
I would like to hear your thoughts on where you rank these titles. In the end we all win.
If you enjoyed this check out my other articles on wrestling and coming soon gaming by clicking on my name.
And be sure to check back as I give my top ten on XBOX 360. Hope it comes faster than this list, lol.
