The Tomas Kaberle saga will finally come to an sometime in the next 14 hours. Brian Burke and the Toronto Maple Leafs will entertain no doubt a dizzying amount of offers for the veteran blue liner between then and now.

As of a radio interview on the Fan 590 yesterday morning, Burke was after one of two things. Either a top six forward or a high draft pick and good young player.

As far as top six players go, there has been no end to the parade of people reportedly about to don the Blue and White as part of a Kaberle deal.

Here are just a few of the more colorful ones I've received in the last 48 hours or so.

Kaberle & Rosehill to LA for Dustin Brown:

The likelyhood of Brown coming to the Leafs is pretty remote. While he may be a bit of a defensive liability at times, he has tremendous potential on both sides of the puck.

Not to mention the more obvious aspect of his being captain of the team. Being captain of a team is certainly no guarantee, but it is usually pretty much a lock.

Besides that, That deal in my opinion favors the Kings. Brown looks to be an average 20-25 goal a year guy who will the odd time chip in 30 and may still have some up side.

Kaberle is already proven.

One part of this deal that is a bit of a non factor is Jay Rosehill. While he may be a Burke style player according to most, with the addition of Dion Phanuef last season and the improving Colton Orr already patrolling the ice, Rosehill will be the odd man out and will likely be featured in a deal for Kaberle especially to a Western Conference team.

Tomas Kaberle to San Jose for Clowe and a 1st rounder:

This deal actually made a lot of sense to me. Clowe is a good player with some playoff experience and can contribute on the scoresheet.

He also has a decent shot and when he has the chance to use it can easily pile on the stats. So far his career high in points is 57 and goals is 22, but in a different situation like with the Leafs perhaps, he could be a consistent 25 goal man and a solid second line player.

Kaberle,Hanson, 1st and a 2nd to Pits for Jordan Staal

If that is what the price is for Jordan Staal, he is waaaaay to expensive!

Kaberle & Grabovski a 2nd and a 3rd for Stamkos

I would do that deal. The Toronto Maple Leafs would love to add another pure scorer but some thing tells me Steve Yzerman won't be shipping his star forward and new cornerstone any time soon.

I could go on, but really they just keep getting more and more ludicrous and in an age where internet is king, it is very difficult to figure out who or what is a reliable source anymore.

Tomas Kaberle has almost made it through what has possibly been the hardest summer of his professional career. I don't ever recall seeing this much scrutiny on a single player in my life time. Well, except when the rumors of Gretzky being traded started to surface.

It's embarrassing. I genuinely feel for the guy and if you think that even he can just shut the world out a hole up over seas to get away from it all, that's another problem with the internet, you just can't.

No, it has almost become incumbent on Brian Burke and the Toronto Maple Leafs to trade Kabby now. We as Leafs fans, supporters, writers, what ever, have no right to expect Tomas Kaberle to perform a high level when we have spent years trying to oust him.

All the while, he has done little more than remain about as cool as the other side of your pillow.
