NHL Buzz: Wednesday, August 4th

Todd CordellCorrespondent IAugust 4, 2010

There are lots of rumors flying around right now, but here are the latest.

The Ducks and Bobby Ryan are not making any progress; right now Ryan's agent and Ducks GM Bob Murray are not even talking, but I still think he re-signs there.

Bobby Ryan tweeted yesterday saying, "Great workout with Getz and Penner today. On the ice again as well!! Season's getting close!"

Well, the season isn't getting any closer for him because he doesn't have a contract. Leafs fans, please don't even bring up the Ryan to the Leafs rumors, thank you.

Additionally, rumor has it several teams are interested in Antti Niemi right now, as multiple sources are telling me that —no surprise—the Islanders are leading the way.

The real shocker is one source emailed me last night saying, "Niemi to the Leafs is possible, watch out for that."

Whether that is true or not remains to be seen, but it will be interesting to watch.

The Boston Bruins are shopping Michael Ryder, hard. I have heard a few teams have kicked tires at him, but teams don't like his contract.

According to Sportsnet.ca, Willie Mitchell has narrowed his list of teams he will sign with to four. Rumor has it the Capitals and Sharks are among them. It is also believed the Canucks are included.

The Ducks are still trying to acquire Kevin Bieksa out of Vancouver; one source has told me, "Progress is being made, but nothing is close."

Rumor has it the Maple Leafs and Oilers are among the teams interested in John Madden.

This concludes today's edition of NHL Buzz, enjoy.
