TNA Impact! Recap and Conclusions
TNA Impact! immediately begins in the ring with Tommy Dreamer and the rest of the "Hardcore Originals." The crowd is extremely loud during this segment, as it appears excitement continues to build.
Dreamer announces that the name for the group is "EV 2.0." Brother DVon calls out Bubba Ray to find answers. After the "EV 2.0" group keeps pushing for Ray to join, including TNA announcer Taz, Bubba decides to join the originals. The crowd again chants loudly, "EV 2.0!"
Hulk Hogan makes his return after a two week absence and endorses the group. Abyss interrupts as Hogan hypes up his "surprise" tonight. Abyss angrily says "they" are not happy and it was never part of the plan. Abyss continues saying "they" gave him orders to take out Dreamer. Dreamer asks to fight Abyss in a Hardcore Match. The opening segment was nothing but pure energy.
Match One: Angelina Love vs Sarita (No. 1 Contender's Match)
This was a standard, decent match. It appears Angelina Love could win the title once again, but this time fairly.
Rating: 3/5
Match Two: Ink Ink vs Orlando Jordan and Eric Young
The tag team match was essentially a comedy segment with Eric Young showing some mental instability after being slammed on the head on an episode of TNA Xplosion . Ink Ink wins this one.
Rating: 1.5/5
Ric Flair comes into the ring with the rest of the Fortune group to introduce Beer Money as the new two members. Flair also announces he will take on Jay Lethal in a street fight next week. Kurt Angle interrupts and says AJ Styles is next on his list.
Match Three: Beer Money vs Motor City Machine Guns (Best out of five)
Another outstanding match in a steel cage by both tag teams. The best match of the night once again. Motor City your winners.
Rating: 5/5
Matt Morgan comes out with Mr. Anderson's music. He imitates Anderson until the man himself comes forward. Anderson and Morgan brawl. Jeff Hardy makes the save for Anderson but two TNA security guards attack both Hardy and Anderson.
Match Four: Kazarian vs Rob Terry
A Bill Goldberg-type match, with Terry completely dominating and winning in just a few moments.
Rating: 1/5
Match Five: Morgan and Security vs Hardy and Anderson
A decent tag match. The security guards weren't too bad as well. Once again, Morgan claimed he was "off the clock" and left as Hardy and Anderson got the win.
Rating: 2.5/5
Eric Bischoff makes a huge announcement about the August 12 edition of TNA Impact! The show will be pay-per-view quality. Abyss appears again, this time saying he wanted a match against Rob Van Dam with his beloved weapon, "Janice," hanging from above. Bischoff agrees and as Abyss prepares to hit Eric, RVD comes out for the save.
Match Six: Abyss vs Tommy Dreamer
A decent, hardcore main event. Raven appeared in the final moments and DDT Dreamer, as this sets up a match between the two at Hardcore Justice.
Overall Rating: 2.5/5
Peragine's Take
This Impact! had lots of energy from the crowd but I felt the show was decent at best. One match that again stood out was Beer Money vs Motor City. However, a few matches just didn't get my attention. Overall, it was a decent Impact! episode and I look forward to next week's edition, especially since it will be the final show before Hardcore Justice .
Ratings
This week's edition of TNA Impact! scored its highest rating since February. The official number is not yet reported, but over 1.64 million viewers watched Impact! this week. This is obviously a very good sign for TNA, as the company appears to be heading in a very good direction.
