NHL Buzz: Tuesday, June 22

Todd CordellJun 22, 2010

It has been a busy day in the NHL so far. Here is an overview of everything that happened today, as well as some rumors.

Trades
The Bruins have acquired the scoring winger they need in Nathan Horton, and they also received F Gregory Campbell in exchange for D Dennis Wideman, the 15th overall pick in the 2010 draft and a third round pick in 2011.
Personally, I think this is a good deal for both teams, as the Bruins get the scoring help they need, and the Panthers get a top pick, a top four defenseman, and a draft pick for next year.
Player Moves

Tomas Plekanec has signed a six-year extension with the Habs worth $5 million per year.
The San Jose Sharks have announced that G Evgeni Nabokov will not be back with the team next season.

Coaching Changes
Pat Quinn has stepped down as the Oilers head coach and has moved into a position as a senior adviser. Tom Renney will take over as the new head coach of the Oilers.
Retirement
Scott Niedermayer has announced his retirement.
Rumors

The Chicago Blackhawks are reportedly asking for a first round pick and a prospect for Dustin Byfuglien.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are looking to trade the rights to D Sergei Gonchar.
The Bruins are expected to make a push for Maple Leafs D Tomas Kaberle.
