The New Jersey Devils have officially started their off-season again; they are currently looking for a new head coach and to re-sign several players. Here is the latest.

The New Jersey Devils are currently undergoing talks with defenseman Mike Mottau. They are believed to be close on a contract extension, but there is still some work to be done.

My take : I personally really want Mike Mottau back and think he should make around $2.5 million. He was one the best Devils defenseman all season long and averaged around 20 minutes a night.

The New Jersey Devils are not even close to re-signing defenseman Paul Martin as he will not begin talks until the Devils hire a new coach. Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said they will take their time to make sure they make the right decision.

My take : Paul Martin is a very good two-way defenseman and I would like to have him back, however, it appears as though he has played his last game as a Devil.

There appears to be a bit of a dark horse for the New Jersey Devils vacant coaching position. It looks like former Devil Kirk Muller may be leading the way.

My take : I think that would be an excellent pick. Kirk does most of the coaching in Montreal right now as an assistant because their head coach Jacques Martin talks less than people when they are eating. Kirk understands players and knows how to win. In my opinion he would probably be the best coaching option out there for the Devils.
