Creature vs. Creature: Michael Bisping Will Reign Supreme at UFC 114

Welcome fight fans, to another rousing edition of Bleacher Report MMA’s famed “Creature vs. Creature.”

Today we will be taking a look at the UFC 114 matchup between two middleweights who are desperately in need of a big win, Michael Bisping and Dan Miller.

Now, my colleague, Mr. Colton Whittemore, is under the impression that BJJ black belt, Dan Miller, has what it takes to get the better of TUF 3 champion Michael Bisping, but that is just not the case.

It’s not that Dan Miller isn’t a tremendous fighter, because he is, it’s just that Bisping has more weapons in his arsenal.

While I will concede that “The Count” is not elite in any one facet of the fight game, he is good in all areas and is vastly ahead of his UFC 114 opponent when it comes to the striking game.

Bisping does have some bad habits on the feet—he tends to circle into his opponent’s power hand—but Miller does not have the power or the technical striking prowess to exploit that deficiency.

Miller’s only way to win this fight is to bring it to the ground and be on top. If he can do that, his blend of wrestling and BJJ could pose a lot of problems for the brash Brit, but getting the fight to the ground is easier said than done.

A lot of people tend to underplay Bisping’s wrestling ability and while he’s no Chael Sonnen or GSP, Bisping does have some very strong takedown defense.

Since Miller will not be able to consistently bring the fight to the ground—I say consistently because I am sure he will get it down a time or two—the advantage will be to Bisping.

Expect to see Bisping pick Miller apart from the outside with crisp combinations all night long en route to a unanimous decision victory.
