Is Denver Broncos Coach Josh McDaniels Crazy Like a Fox or Plain Crazy?
No coach's career in recent memory has been nearly as incomprehensible as Denver's Josh McDaniels. When he was hired to coach the Broncos, he inherited a star quarterback, Jay Cutler. After a public dispute, Cutler was traded to the Chicago Bears for draft picks.
McDaniels made curious drafting choices and free agent moves, including a move that started a public controversy over the new long snapper (for god's sake!) signed. FireJoshMcDanielsNow.com went up on the internet.
All this before a down was played.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap šø
Then, the Broncos began the season 6-0. Everyone was forced to rethink his or her position. FireJoshMcDanielsNow.com officially changed its name to KeepJoshMcDaniels.com.
However, the Broncos slid and ended the season 2-8. McDaniels had another dispute with a star player, receiver Brandon Marshall, and dealt him to Miami for two draft picks. He also let defensive coordinator Mike Nolan bolt to Miami, a move that has been questioned thoroughly. KeepJoshMcDaniels.com is FireJoshMcDanielsNow.com again.
So is McDaniels a step ahead of everyone, like a Jedi master? Did he know that Cutler would throw away games for the Bears with ugly picks? Ā Does he know something about Marshall and Nolan that we don't?
Or is he just crazy, trading away a franchise quarterback and a record-breaking receiver for picks and some guy named Kyle Orton?
Last year, some Broncos fans and commentators were quick to call McDaniels out for his seemingly crazy moves. They ended up eating a lot of those words during the beginning of the season as the team played well, then spit them out again at the conclusion when the Broncos played poorly.
This year, everyone's a bit more cautious. We don't know quite to expect. It's not quite clear, however, how McDaniels will fix the team.
My gut tells me he will draft Dez Bryant in the upcoming draft to replace Marshall, even though Bryant has supposed character issues which is supposedly why Marshall was traded.
Yes, I know this quite doesn't make sense. But how many things in the McDaniels era have made sense?
