So what should the cowboys draft this upcoming draft a safety or a lineman? Well first lets look at the depth of these two positions. On the offensive line we have Procter and Holland on the bench with Free taking Adams old job. On the safety side we have Alan Ball and Pat Watkins. Now my honest opinion and by what the stats show the o line has alot more depth. Ball isnt bad but i dont think he has the skill to be a everyday every play safety. Watkins has been pretty much a bust since we drafted him which is rare for a defensive player from Florida State. Why draft a lineman first when the class for safety's is so shallow and the lineman pool is so deep. We could draft one of the top three safety's in the draft and definitely add some youth to our secondary. Look at what Jenkins and Scandrick have done for us. They have greatly eased the concern about our corner-back depth. I personally don't think we should of got rid of Hamlin but everyone knows that was because of the money issue there. We all know the guy can play or else we wouldn't have gave him the franchise tag three years ago. So ill let you make the choice for yourself and the Cowboys draft team will make theirs but maybe one of them will read this article and think of it on draft day. Draft a safety, then in the second round draft one of the many offensive lineman that will still be there. Lineman are easy to train. The safety requires a lot more training and the top three safety picks in the draft all understand their roles very well. And if Earl Thomas is still around we know he can adapt because he played corner all his life until he hit Texas and now look how good he is at his position so he should be able to adapt very well. SO....... Lets start the countdown to draft day with a little thought and prayer that America's team makes a good choice.
