Tim Tebow is one of the greatest college quarterbacks ever. In his four years as a Florida Gator, Tim Tebow played in the National Championship twice and won both.
Tim is the all-time leader in rushing yards in the SEC and as the quarterback of the Gators’ he helped the team to many milestones. Thinking of that you would undoubtedly say he was a lock for the best quarterback in this draft class. But that is where the confusion starts.
Many call this upcoming draft class weak in terms of quarterbacks. That’s okay and all but they’re expecting teams to sleep on Tim Tebow to later on in the draft.
But one top ten team has expressed interest in the iffy quarterback.
The Jacksonville Jaguars; Earlier this season the Mayor of Florida said that he wanted to see the Jaguars draft Tim Tebow. And he isn’t the only one. Tim Tebow’s popularity in Florida has risen and is still rising. Florida fans love him down there. Many NFL fans that live in Florida woke up just to see Tim Tebow practice for the Senior Bowl. When the Senior Bowl started things were no different for the star as he heard chants of “we want te-bow.”
According to Todd McShay, Tim Tebow’s performance in the Senior Bowl hurt his chances of becoming a NFL quarterback. I’ve kept my ears opened and I’ve heard many crazy things like: Tim Tebow is going to be a tight end, or a slot receiver. But you know what position I place him at? Quarterback!
Desire to Win
Tim Tebow is an amazing athlete. Probably one of the most interesting athletes to watch but what separates him from most is his desire to win. If you missed Tim Tebow’s speech after a Gators’ loss you’re in luck. Tebow said “"I promise you one thing. A lot of good will come out of this. You will never see any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of the season. You will never see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of the season. You will never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season."
After this speech was made the Gators’ won the rest of their games and won their third national championship.
I don’t care what the draft experts say. You put Tim Tebow in the shotgun and he is unstoppable. Just like with a point guard in basketball, you ask them to do something they’re not use to doing they’re going to struggle as well. So I’m not really buying the whole lack of accuracy thing, because Tim Tebow has proven he can throw the ball around the field.
The NFL hasn’t seen a quarterback with the left hand and legs since Michael Vick. Well now you have Tim Tebow. With both of these players many doubt their accuracy, but Tebow can do something Vick has struggled with his entire career. Throw on the run.
When Tebow cannot get it to any of his receivers he can tuck it away and run for big yardage. He is strong with the ball and can break many tackles. He is great in the open field; he can make the defender miss if needed.
Where ever Ti m Tebow goes money is going to follow him. Being such a global icon many people are going to pay to see Tebow play in the NFL. The addition of Tebow could potentially put more butts in your seats and more money in your pocket.
So overall despite what everyone has to say about Tim Tebow,in my eyes he is still one of the best prospects in this draft class. I’m not saying that he doesn’t have things to improve but knocking him down to the second day of the draft is just downright crazy. If he does slip all the way to maybe the fourth or fifth round this would be the biggest draft steal since Colston to the Saints.
In my opinion Tebow fits with the Miami Dolphins. Their offense is usually run out of the shotgun and they’ve put the Wildcat offense in overdrive. However with the emergence of Chad Henne I don’t believe they’ll use a draft pick to grab Tim Tebow off the board.
The team that will pick Tebow is the Jacksonville Jaguars. Not just because of what the mayor says but for financial sake. The Jaguars wasn’t the hottest team last year and not only did there play effect there win total but their finances as well. The Jaguars lost millions of dollars that they usually make. With Tebow being such a hot commodity in Florida, many fans would pay their hard owned money to see this player take center field and play some pro football.
If in fact the Jaguars do not come away with Tim Tebow I believe that Weaver would be out of his job as the GM of the Jaguars.
