Hue Jackson To Oakland: A Move That Can Benefit Jamarcus Russell

As the rumors continue to fly in Oakland regarding the head coaching position, questions continue to arise on the situation with Raiders owner Al Davis.

With most of his transactions being questioned, it is now very shocking if Davis brings in a man that may actually give an impact to this ball club.

However, according to a few reports the past couple of days, there is some positive note in Oakland.

Hue Jackson, the current quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens, is being interviewed by the Raiders for their offensive coordinator position.

For those who question this decision, think again. Jackson had stints with the Atlanta Falcons and the Cincinnati Bengals, including an offensive coordinator position with the Bengals just a few seasons ago.

The Raiders offense has faced difficulty of balance. But most importantly, the biggest trouble for Oakland is the development of former No. 1 pick JaMarcus Russell.

Russell has been criticized for his work ethic and love for football, and has not received positive feedback from Raider Nation.

However, if Jackson joins the Oakland staff, this can be a positive for JaMarcus and the overall roster.

Hue has made a great impact on Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer, who when healthy, has showed the potential of being one of the best in the game.

In recent years, however, Jackson has worked greatly with Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, who has taken great strides of improvement in his sophomore season.

Jackson seems to have the calmness as a mentor to quarterbacks, which can truly be a favor in Russell's development.

Going through multiple coordinators and different head coaches, it's to early to give this young quarterback the "bust" label. However, if stability is there, maybe he can turn his career around.

Whether or not JaMarcus Russell will turn his work ethic around remains to be seen.

However, we see there are some intelligent people left in the Raiders front office, who are able to see the potential impact Hue Jackson can bring to this Oakland offense.
