Chiefs' Mahomes Dilemma 🤔

Kansas City Chiefs Coach Todd Haley Has Had a Wild Year One

Bill RobbinsDec 24, 2009

When the Kansas City Chiefs hired then-Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley in February of 2009 to be their new head coach, no one really knew what to expect out of him as a head coach in the league.

Now, after 10 months on the job, we all know what Todd Haley is about.

From the second that Haley stepped foot in KC, he demanded respect from his players and became known quickly as a no-nonsense type of coach. And, for the most part, he has got that respect from his players so far thus season.

Haley was brought in to Kansas City to try to help change the losing culture into winning football along with the man who hired him, Scott Pioli.

The only problem is the Chiefs are not getting better, they are sitting at 3-11 with just two games left on the regular season schedule.

The season has been filled with everything including multiple expletive tirades by Haley on the sideline, along with QB Matt Cassel and Haley getting into it at times, as well as the Chiefs WRs dropping balls left and right.

Last week, they was a report that Haley had indeed flipped off a fan because it got to him what a particular fan was mouthing to him during a game.

Look, the bottom line with the Chiefs this season is they don't have the horses and/or talent to be a good, competitive team in this league.

I am not trying to make all of the excuses for Haley, I do believe he is messed up some this year with his coaching.

All I am saying is it is going to get better Chiefs fans. I believe it this time. Pioli and Haley are going to find the right players that will work here, give them some time.

Look at the New England Patriots before they had the recent run of Super Bowl wins.

They were a very inconsistent team in the 1990s, winning just three playoff games during the entire decade.

Yes, that's right, I said three playoff games.

I'm not saying that KC will win three or four Super Bowls in the near future, and have a near undefeated season, but all I am saying is give these guys chance.

Would you rather still have King Carl and his arrogance, and Herm "pass, pass, run, punt" Edwards?

Give Haley some better talent and the Chiefs will take off as a team. Just think about it, and give Mr. Haley a chance.
