Let me startout by stating that I cannot stand the New York Yankees for the life of me, but there is one player that I will cheer for to have success. That player is Nick Swisher because he's everything a major league player should be.
Swisher will never be one of the higher paid baseball players, but he'll always be the one having the most fun. His personality and the way he treats fans is refreshing especially for an athlete.
So, when Swisher came up with the bases loaded against Brian Fuentes in the top of the ninth inning of game five it was tough to not want him to try to send in the tying run.
For the record I'm not an Angel fan, pretty much any team facing the Yankees I'll be cheering for the team to beat the Yankees. I was actually hoping that Swisher would tie the score and the Yankees bullpen blow it in the bottom of the ninth.
Yet, Swisher ended up popping up to end the game. Now the media has been reporting or rumors swirling that Swisher should be benched based on his slump at the plate. Even with that though Swisher remains upbeat.
I find it funny that was isn't mentioned is the fact that in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Angels had a bases loaded situation with one out and Chone Figgins hit a flyball, Swisher made a perfect throw to keep Reggie Willits from scoring what would have been the run to take the lead.
On top of that though Swisher is versatile he can play all the outfield positions, he can play first base, and he can even pitch as seen earlier this year.
Yet, what makes Swisher so great as I mentioned is his personality. He's always having fun no matter what and no matter what you know when watching Swisher he is giving his best effort on the field.
Besides what Swisher has done on the field he's even better off of it. When he was in Oakland he had his hair long the reason being is so he could donate the hair to a charity in memory of his grandmother who helped raise him as a child. Swisher even has a website here's the link to the site .
