Knicks HC Rumors: David Fizdale to Interview with NY amid Hornets Buzz

David Fizdale is the hottest commodity on the head coaching market. 

Not only is Fizdale considered the front-runner for the Charlotte Hornets' vacant gig, according to SiriusXM NBA's Mitch Lawrence, but he told reporters at Golden State Warriors practice Friday that he has interviews scheduled this week with the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns, per the Mercury News' Mark Medina. 

The Knicks fired Jeff Hornacek after the regular season ended Wednesday and have ramped up their search over the past 48 hours. 

According to the New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy, the Knicks "have already contacted the representatives of another candidate, Jerry Stackhouse, and are expected to do the same (if they haven't already) with Mark Jackson, David Blatt and Jay Wright."

Fizdale, 43, was fired 19 games into his second season as the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies following a 7-12 start and a public clash with center Marc Gasol. During his first year at the helm, the Grizzlies went 43-39 and qualified for the playoffs. 

The Knicks, who went 60-104 in two seasons under Hornacek, are still searching for their first postseason appearance since 2013.
