Lonzo Ball Suffers Calf Injury During Lakers vs. Mavericks in NBA Summer League

Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball suffered tightness in his calf during Sunday's Las Vegas Summer League game against the Dallas Mavericks, Spectrum SportsNet's Mike Trudell reported.

After the Lakers' 108-98 win, Ball said he is "hopeful" he'll be in action Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers in the summer league title game, but it depends on what the training staff says, per Trudell.

Ball exited the game with 16 points, 10 assists and four rebounds.

The No. 2 overall pick entered the semifinals having built a strong candidacy to be summer league MVP. In his first five appearances, he had averaged 16.4 points, 9.2 assists and 8.4 rebounds.

While summer league basketball is far from the pressure cooker the regular season will be for Ball, he has made a strong impression in Vegas:

Los Angeles would undoubtedly be at a disadvantage without its best player on the floor in Monday's championship game.
