Arnold Sports Festival Results 2017: Saturday Results, Highlights and Reaction
Day 3 at the Arnold Sports Festival saw new champions crowned in some of the gathering's marquee events at the Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Saturday featured the finals of the Arnold Classic, men's physique and bikini competitions, culminating in an appearance by Arnold Schwarzenegger himself.
The Arnold Classic was the primary focus of the night, and it was Cedric McMillan who beat out Dallas McCarver to take the crown, as seen in this tweet courtesy of RXMuscle.com:
Following his victory, McMillan made it clear that the former governor of California was his inspiration:
In addition to scoring arguably the biggest win of his career, McMillan put himself in position to shine on an even bigger stage, as he qualified for the 2017 Mr. Olympia competition.
The men's physique event was hotly contested, but Great Britain's Ryan Terry managed to prevail over Andre Ferguson, according to the Arnold Sports Festival's official Twitter account:
Earlier in the day, Terry tweeted a video of himself during the pre-judging phase:
Terry impressed then and also managed to step up his game during the actual competition, as the former Mr. Olympia fourth-place finisher came out on top.
The women were also in action as part of the bikini event, and Brazil's Angelica Teixeira was declared the winner after finishing fourth last year.
Teixeira undoubtedly earned the triumph, as she beat out the reigning Olympia champion in Courtney King, per NPC News Online:
As seen in the following photo, both Teixeira and King showed off impressive physiques, which left the judges with a difficult decision:
Schwarzenegger is the biggest name in bodybuilding history, and winning an event under his umbrella goes a long way toward lifting competitors to superstardom.
McMillan, Terry and Teixeira were all well-known within the sport entering Saturday, but their victories may have pushed them closer to mainstream success.
While Saturday marked the conclusion of the Arnold Sports Festival's premier contests, there is still a packed slate Sunday featuring myriad sports, including amateur weightlifting and strongman competitions.
