Sports Anchor Drinks Away the Pain on the Air After Capitals Elimination

Kyle NewportMay 12, 2016

With 120 points, the Washington Capitals ran away with the Presidents' Trophy this season. But once again, Alex Ovechkin and Co. were sent packing from the Stanley Cup playoffs early.

That leaves Capitals fans looking for a way to cope with the pain of a disappointing end to a great season.

For CSN Mid-Atlantic sports anchor Michael Jenkins, drinking the pain away is the way to go.

After the Pittsburgh Penguins knocked the Capitals out of the 2016 postseason in the second round, Jenkins managed to have some fun (while crying on the inside) during a recent broadcast by sipping on a beverage as he filled in viewers on the happenings in the sports world.

It turned out to be quite the show, as he gave some tough advice that he felt fans needed to hear.

Being a sports fan can lead to a lot of heartbreak. For Jenkins, having to recap his favorite team's elimination to a live audience makes matters even worse.

Update (05/13/16):

As it turns out, the placebo effect is a powerful thing.

According to Business Insider's Cork Gaines, the pseudo-inebriated sports anchor was not in fact consuming any alcohol at all.

That chug and spill? Iced tea.

As for what may or may not have consumed after the broadcast? Well, that remains to be confirmed.
