NBA Creates Video Comparing the LaVine-Gordon Dunk Contest to Jordan-Wilkins
After a long string of semi-anemic showings, the NBA Slam Dunk Contest finally returned to prominence when Minnesota guard Zach and Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon, both just 20 years old, turned in sensational Saturday night performances.
The matchup was so spectacularly competitive that it elicited instant comparisons to one of history's best—1988's contest between Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins.
Perhaps in 28 years, NBA fans will reflect on 2016's vs. Gordon the same way.
For those who remain unconvinced or just want to relive the epic battles, the NBA compiled a mashup video demonstrating the similarities between the two epic contests.
The electrifying challenger? The astounding leap from the charity stripe? The champion defending his title? It's all there, and it's all unbelievable.
Suffice it to say that the future of All-Star Weekend's beloved event is very bright.
