The Atlanta Falcons must have liked what they saw out of Tye Hill when they played the St. Louis Rams Week Two of the preseason.

We've all been waiting for the Falcons to make some kind of move to improve the secondary and they did just that.

Tye Hill was a first round pick out of Clemson and ran a 4.31 forty yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine. Hill had a pretty impressive rookie year with 50 tackles (47 solo), three interceptions, and six passes defensed.

In his second year he improved despite only playing eight games. In those eight games he had eight passes defensed and had already surpassed his rookie season total.

But last season is where I'm a bit concerned. He played in only four games, so it seems he is a bit injury prone.

I thought the Falcons would have gone after a corner with a bit more size. Hill is 5'10", but he can cover receivers which is something the Birds need pretty desperately.

But you have to think. Were the Falcons looking to acquire CB Roderick Hood?

Hood was released by the Browns last year and played very well in the playoff game against the Falcons.

When Hood signed with the Bears, GM Thomas Dimitroff may have just went to the next best option, which of course seemed to be Tye Hill.

But what I really like is that Tye Hill has two years left on his deal.

So if he has a great season like Foxworth last year, he will still have another year left. Therefore, there will be no cause for the fans to be upset about another Dominique Foxworth situation.

Hopefully, Hill can help the Falcons less than average secondary.
