Poch Throws Out 1st Pitch ⚾

Is Chien Ming Wrong or Is No Man an Eiland?

Jackson RiffeJul 29, 2009

And around and around it goes.

Chien Ming Wang is done for the year and is it the Yankees fault? Possibly. ESPN had video of his mechanical issues on a split screen before the Yankees even looked at him that way it seems, then sent him back out there with his velocity diminished. He wasn't pivoting on his pushoff foot as much as he used to...which makes throwing the same speed all up to arm strength...which it turns out messed up his shoulder. I am guessing again here.

Does Dave Eiland fix broken pitchers well? I have never seen him do it. I have only seen them be inconsistent under his watch. Or fall apart.

If Eiland gets around to fixing stuff, he should try to fix the hole in Nick Swisher's mitt or head that makes him really unreliable in the outfield. "Hey Nick! Stop the hot dog slides and cleat in the wall crap and catch the ball!" is what Eisland should say, standing there with his Yankees official batman utility belt strapped on and a goose neck halogen light attached to his baseball hat.

Maybe he should try to fix Joe Girardi's brainfog that makes him forget he has Eric Hinske on the bench. He only has four home runs in 18 at bats...duh Joe, whaddya think? "Play Hinske you moron!" is what "Mr. Fix-it" Eiland should tell him. Eiland should ask him, "Do you want to win easily Joe? Or make it a struggle?" Give Swish a rest. Give Hinske some time on the field.

Turns out Eiland may not know what it takes to be a good pitcher because he was not one himself. It's like asking Joe Girardi something during batting practice.

Dave Eliand Playing Career :
Appeared in 92 career Major League games (70 starts) over 10 seasons with the Yankees (1988-91, 95), San Diego Padres (1992-93) and Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998- 2000), going 12-27 with a 5.74 ERA (373.0IP, 238ER) allowed a home run to his first-ever batter faced in the Majors on 8/3/88 at Milwaukee (Paul Molitor).
