NBA 2K15: Exciting Alternative Roster Ideas for MyLeague and MyGM
The depth of roster editing allowed in NBA 2K15 is enough to make a roster editor lose sleep dreaming of new concepts and cool ideas. I know from experience.
With the ability to not only move any player to any team before starting an MyGM or MyLeague, but to also alter vital details like height, weight, temperament and even names, the possibility for theme rosters is almost endless.
Here are three concepts to consider if you're a roster geek like yours truly.
Going Home

LeBron James' return to the Cleveland Cavaliers made the term "going home" very popular this summer, but what if every player in the NBA did that?
The idea behind the Going Home roster is to send every player to the team closest to the city where they attended high school. LeBron would be joined by Kevin Martin, Jared Sullinger and others on the Cavs roster.
Derrick Rose would welcome Anthony Davis, Dwyane Wade and Jabari Parker to the Chicago Bulls. Well, you get the point. It's a cool way to see which region has produced the best ballers.
Some areas are underrepresented, thus you'll have to get creative. You may have to substitute a team like the Utah Jazz for one of the 25 international squads included in the game. Making that the team that features some of the best players who hail from other countries is a cool twist to properly represent all of the league's top stars.
How cool do I think this idea is? I've already started it myself. Check out some of the rosters I put together in this video.
Set Us Free
Free agency is a big deal in professional sports, but every player has to wait until their contract is up to cash in. What if every player in the NBA was on a one-year deal? You can make it happen with NBA 2K15's roster creator.
By reducing every player's contract to one year before starting a MyGM or MyLeague, the entire league would be on expiring deals.
The mayhem that would ensue after one season would be like a fantasy draft, only with every team having a wide-open checkbook to restart their roster. This roster setup does take some patience because the interface doesn't make reducing the current contract status easy.
Perhaps only freeing up each team's superstar would be a better option.
If you've got the time, it's a fun concept.
United States vs. The World

Ever wanted to see what would happen if there was actually a real world championship? If the NBA champion played a series against the Euroleague champion, the winner would be able to call themselves the king of the hoops world.
You can do something very similar by substituting the worse NBA teams for the top Euroleague squads. You'd essentially put all of the best NBA teams in the Western Conference and the best international squads in the East.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are two of the best. How would a best-of-seven series between one of those Spanish-league squads play out against the Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs or Chicago Bulls? It would be fun to find out.
If you set up the rosters, you'll be able to simulate the potential fantasy matchup.
