MLB: Another Reason to Hate You

Tonight, the San Jose Sharks took the ice at 7 p.m. PDT to start their playoff series against the Calgary Flames.

There is a lot of buzz surrounding this series. Many analysts consider the Flames the most dangerous low seed in the tournament, and the Sharks are the most common pick for hoisting the Cup.

It is expected to be a physical series, and features two talented teams with no shortage of stars. There are also no shortage of other storylines, from Calgary players and front office personnel that used to be with the Sharks to a rivalry intensifying because of previous playoff clashes.

That is why the game is being covered nationally on the obscure Versus cable network Bettman maddeningly decided to sign with. 

In the Bay Area, however, it was blacked out on Versus because Comcast Sports Net was covering it following an Oakland Athletics' game. The baseball game ran over, so what does Comcast do?

Show the game that is 5 percent into a season in which Oakland is likely to lose 90 games, or the first playoff game of a team that has expectations of a championship?

Yeah, they showed the game that did not matter for the team that did not matter, and I missed THREE goals.

I hate you, Comcast Sports Net, and I hate you, MLB. 

It isn't bad enough the game has become a horrible example of the haves against the have-nots. If you pick these eight teams every year, you will be right on at least half of them making the playoffs 100 percent of the time: Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Tigers, Mets, Padres, Cardinals, and Braves. 

(I am so confident in this that I do not even need to look it up—I dare anyone to call me on it. Bet it's true for this whole decade, and even if not, you know the point is.)

It's apparently also not bad enough that you have provided us with sluggers whose heads are bigger than my waist, the Mitchell Report, an All-Star game tie, and a cancelled World Series.

Now you have to take away my Sharks? 

That's it—I'm tossin' off the gloves, eh!  If the referees aren't doin' their job, you're gettin' a beat down, you betchya!
