Carlos Boozer Wants to Return to the Utah Jazz

D.Michael LeeApr 29, 2009

It wasn’t that long ago that Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer, who at the time was still out injured, came out and told reporters he was opting out of his deal at the end of the season.

Many local Jazz fans did not appreciate the timing of his announcement, as it came at a time when the team was doing well, and reserve Paul Millsap was playing his best basketball all season.

“I do want to stay here,” Boozer said. “I want to be in Utah. I want to play for the Jazz. I made that loud and clear from Day One.”

Carlos Boozer has decided he wants to stay, and probably for good reason. When looking at his potential free agent destinations, the potential destinations aren’t as attractive as they once were.

Sure, he could go to Detroit, and be apart of a rebuilding process in a steadily improving Eastern Conference. He could also see if Memphis or Indiana, two non-playoff teams, decide that he is the missing piece.

Or, on the other hand, Boozer can remain where he is at, playing alongside Deron Williams, and average 20 and 10 the rest of his career.

The Jazz do need some pieces to get to the serious contender status, but they are much closer than his other options.
