The joyous and relaxing years of retirement for Mike Modano will not feature Willa Ford.

People Magazine delivered the sad news that the longtime Dallas Stars center, who ended his career with the Detroit Red Wings, will be divorcing his wife Willa Ford.

Thankfully, it seems this is an amicable split that both parties wanted. The magazine released this joint statement from their respective reps.

It is with great sadness that after five years of marriage, Willa and Mike have decided to divorce. They remain friends and wish each other success and happiness.

Five magical years expire into divorce like so many around this nation. This one seemed like it might have some legs.

Modano is one of the best players to ever play in the NHL, holding records for both goals and points scored by an American-born player.

Ford is hardly a stranger to the masses.

She was ousted in week five of the third season of Dancing with the Stars and currently maintains a singing career as well as featuring in the Starz series Magic City

Ford has also appeared in episodes of The Glades and Raising Dead while also making a splash on the pages of such magazines such as FHM.

Let the mass clamoring begin, because two very lovely people are back on the open market.
