1 Player Each EPL Team Could Still Buy, Sell and Loan This Summer
Just over three weeks to go in the summer transfer window and, perhaps Chelsea aside, we haven’t seen too much transfer activity on the whole in the English Premier League thus far.
Perhaps it takes that one big signing to spark a whole flurry of deals, or perhaps EPL-wide budgets are being reined in.
Two weeks ago, I reviewed and ranked all 20 Premier League sides in terms of their transfer dealings as of July 23.
Now comes a list of players that each EPL team could still buy, sell and loan this summer.
Arsenal
1 of 20Buy
At the time of writing, Santi Cazorla still hasn’t sealed his transfer from Malaga to Arsenal. For a reported £20 million (according to the Daily Mirror), Cazorla would be an exciting, if slightly costly, signing for the Gunners.
Sell
No, Robin van Persie still hasn’t left yet. According to Roberto Mancini, he won’t be going to Manchester City, so the Daily Mail suggests that he might head to Manchester United instead.
Loan
Nuri Sahin of Real Madrid completes this list for Arsenal. Sahin has even gotten manager Jose Mourinho’s blessings, according to The Independent, so this might actually become a reality in the coming weeks.
Aston Villa
2 of 20Buy
Metro links Liverpool’s Andy Carroll with a permanent move to Villa Park. However unlikely this transfer may be, it would be a deal of seismic proportions.
Sell
The Daily Mirror reports that Sunderland are interested in left-back Stephen Warnock, and that Villa would listen to offers, given that his contract will be expiring in 12 months’ time.
Loan
Just under a month ago, Chelsea’s young left-back Ryan Bertrand was linked with a loan move to Aston Villa (Daily Mirror). If Warnock’s transfer does go through, Paul Lambert will be looking to fill that void, and possibly with Bertrand.
Chelsea
3 of 20Buy
Is Andre Schurrle about to complete a big-money move from Leverkusen to Stamford Bridge? Just weeks ago, Chelsea had their bid for Schurrle rejected, but according to the Daily Mirror, the move might be on again.
Sell
They call him Cashley, and apparently Ashley Cole is holding out for a final payday. Carlo Ancelotti and Paris St-Germain (according to the Daily Mirror) would be able to grant him his wishes, and then some.
Loan
In Chelsea’s case, a likely loan move would be out of Stamford Bridge, and with Fernando Torres as first-choice striker and a whole host of attacking signings this summer, Romelu Lukaku might be the player in question, according to the Daily Mail.
Everton
4 of 20Buy
Michael Owen to Everton (Daily Mail)? Well, he ruffled Liverpool’s feathers once by joining Manchester United. Don’t bet against him making the move to Goodison Park.
Sell
It seems that left-back Leighton Baines is linked with Manchester United every summer, and this year doesn’t seem to be an exception. According to The Guardian, new Everton signing Steven Pienaar has even gone on record saying that he hopes Baines will stay.
Fulham
5 of 20Buy
Huddersfield hotshot Jordan Rhodes is at the center of a transfer tug of war between Fulham and recently relegated Blackburn Rovers, according to the Daily Mirror.

It’s the one that just won’t go away: Clint Dempsey has been linked with a move to Liverpool all summer, and it hasn’t happened yet. The Daily Mirror report that Martin Jol is once again refusing to respond to speculation around Dempsey.

It’s been a long time coming, but Bologna’s Gaston Ramirez could finally seal a move to Anfield after Liverpool apparently lodged a £12.5 million offer for the Uruguayan winger (Standard).
Sell

Brendan Rodgers admitted recently that Liverpool could enter the loan market for players this summer, and, lo and behold, long-time mooted target Ibrahim Afellay is suddenly, apparently, available for loan from Barcelona, according to ESPNSoccernet.
Manchester City
7 of 20Buy
A thus-far quiet summer for Roberto Mancini and Manchester City could be emphatically smashed with a big-money deal for Roma’s Daniele De Rossi, who would make a good acquisition for City’s midfield (Daily Mail).
Sell
Nigel de Jong may have ruled out a departure from the Etihad Stadium to Bayern Munich (via the Daily Mail), but his far-from-certain first-team status means that a move from the EPL champions might still happen.
Loan
Given Stefan Savic’s unconvincing performances as City’s stand-in central defender last season, Mancini could look to send him out on loan to gain experience. Wolves are the team linked in by the Daily Mail.
Manchester United
8 of 20Buy
Just a few weeks ago, Malaga was the new La Liga powerhouse, but now they are braced to lose some of their best players due to their financial plight. According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are now looking to tie up a deal for Spanish midfield prospect Isco.
Sell
United's mooted move for Lucas Moura can be considered more important in the context that star winger Nani is apparently the subject of a big-money bid from Real Madrid (Daily Mail). If the Lucas deal does go through, Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping that he can replace Nani quickly.
Loan
Following Nick Powell's move from Crewe Alexandra, Ferguson might be keen to send him back to the Championship for another year's worth of experience before easing him into his United side, according to the Daily Mirror.
Newcastle
9 of 20Buy
Newcastle are yet another club to try and pick up players from financially troubled Malaga on the cheap: The Daily Mirror link the Toon Army with a move for midfield general Jeremy Toulalan.
Sell
Demba Ba's release clause has allegedly expired (according to BBC Sport), but considering the rumored interest in him prior to the July 31 deadline, don't expect calm waters just yet.
Loan
It's been weeks since Liverpool rejected Newcastle's loan bid for Andy Carroll (The Guardian), but the striker has allegedly said that he would prefer a move back to Tyneside if he were to leave Liverpool. Watch this space.

Queens Park Rangers
11 of 20Buy
A year after his surprise free transfer move to Manchester City, Owen Hargreaves, who was released at the end of last season, is now training with Queens Park Rangers, according to the Telegraph, in a move that might just turn permanent if Mark Hughes is sufficiently impressed.
Sell

Sell
Reading midfielder Jem Karacan has reportedly stalled his contract talks at the Madjeski Stadium, and the Daily Star report that a host of clubs are currently monitoring his situation and are ready to pounce.
Southampton
13 of 20Buy
This would probably be the most stunning transfer this summer if it happened, but it’s hard to tell whether there’s any truth in the Daily Mirror’s report linking Theo Walcott with a move back to Southampton.
Sell
Following their promotion to the Premier League, Southampton are rumored to be offloading midfielder Richard Chaplow, who, according to the Daily Star, isn’t interested in moving to Crystal Palace.
Loan
The Daily Mail report that Southampton are interested in Blackburn's Scott Dann as a permanent transfer, but Ajax's rumored loan deal for the central defender (Mail) could yet change things around at St. Mary's.
Stoke City
14 of 20Buy
Wolves face losing a number of star players following their relegation last season, and star winger Michael Kightly is linked by the Daily Express with a move to Stoke City.
Sell
The Daily Mail reported back in May that Stoke were prepared to listen to offers for striker Kenwyne Jones. With a number of strikers ahead of him in Tony Pulis’ pecking order, a move away would not be a surprise.

Sunderland
15 of 20Buy
