The Denver Broncos already had serious questions to answer about whether or not to bring back oft-injured running back Knowshon Moreno.

Should Denver Cut the Oft-Injured Moreno?

Moreno’s recent DUI should be the last straw. The Broncos need to cut the overrated star.

After being pulled over for doing 70 MPH in a construction zone marked for 45 MPH traffic, Moreno and his drop-top Bentley with customized “SAUCED” license plate (seriously) were pulled over by Denver Police.

With an embarrassing incident like this compounding a mediocre season on the ground for the running back, the Broncos should see know that this kid isn’t worth all the trouble. Since Broncos head coach John Fox didn’t draft him, it should make letting him walk easy for all parties involved.

The Broncos issued a statement about Moreno’s arrest:

We take the incident involving Knowshon Moreno very seriously and are thoroughly reviewing this matter. Our organization will continue to gather information and closely monitor this issue while the legal process runs its course.

Moreno was taken 12th overall by the Broncos in the 2009 draft, and expected to be the next stellar Denver running back. That didn’t happen.

In three seasons, Moreno has missed 12 games due to several injuries, including a torn ACL that cost him the latter portion of the 2011 season. That’s called injury prone.

With Fox favoring the duo of Willis McGahee and Tim Tebow as his running backs, it doesn’t matter if Moreno is on the sidelines or not; he won’t play. Moreno is better off being released and realizing how lucky he had been.

Denver will let him go and he will sign with a team looking for another speedy back with some elusiveness and Moreno will have his chance for redemption. I don’t think he will capitalize, but the Broncos will be out of the situation and that’s what they need to do.
