Dirk Nowitzki: His Rest and Rehab Must-Do's
Dirk Nowitzki, the Dallas Mavericks all-world forward, has been taking a few games off to rest a sore knee. He is slated to miss his fourth game tonight and may return on Sunday to play against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Mavericks have won two of the three games played in Nowitzki’s absence, so hopefully they won’t rush the big German back too soon.
More importantly, this writer hopes that Nowitzki has spent his time off the right way.

Nowitzki said:
I think it was definitely a good week for me to work on some stuff that I wasn't able to work on when I had some trouble with my knee. So that's definitely good. We lifted a lot, ran some, shot some, so I'm excited to get this week over with and be back out there with the guys. We were always shooting for Sunday, so we'll just take it day by day and see how these next two days of training go and keep pushing myself, twice a day. But that's where my head is, hopefully Sunday, and we'll go from there.
That’s all well and good, but here’s what I would have suggested for Nowitzki on his week off.
Practice, Practice, Practice
Dirk you have missed five free throws this year. What’s up with that?
Also, why not aim for a field goal percentage of 60? Sure it’s probably impossible, but you’re a perfectionist so let’s see how close you can get.
Hang Out With David Hasselhoff
Germans absolutely love the ex-Baywatch star, which works out well because Hasselhoff loves himself too!
Ink Up
Hey how about a tattoo? That would be refreshing. The NBA just can’t get enough tattoos. Though you’re in a lot of Top 10 categories, Dirk, you are severely lacking in the tattoo department.
Classes with Cuban
Nowitzki, I know you’re a millionaire in dollars and in Euros, but money does not grow on trees. Your boss, Mark Cuban, is a billionaire. Heck, he might be a kajillionaire. Maybe some of Cuban’s money genius will rub off.
Baseball Fantasy Camp
Dirk, I love you. The Mavericks love you. Even Texas Rangers fans love you, but what was this?
Invite J.J. Barea Over
The new Minnesota Timberwolves point guard is yielding a lot of minutes to rookie sensation, Ricky Rubio. Why not invite your former teammate over for some drinks and a rehash of last year’s title run? Oh yeah, and tell him to bring his girlfriend, former Miss Universe Zulyeka Rivera!
More importantly tell Rivera to bring a friend...or two, or three! (Just keep them away from Hasselhoff).
If Barea’s girlfriend’s girlfriends don’t want to travel to Dallas, then please let them know this author has an apartment in New York City that’s practically clean. And I have an air mattress too!
All joking aside, I hope Nowitzki gets all the rest and rehabilitation he needs. The Mavericks are doing well without him, but he’s our star. Just his presence on the court makes the Mavericks a better team. Watching him play is a joy for Mavericks fans and other NBA fans as well.
