No lead is safe. But Wyndham Clark's got to be feeling pretty good.
The 2023 U.S. Open champion arrives with a six-shot edge heading into the final round of the 2026 event at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y.
What to Know
End to End. If Clark holds on to win he'll be the first to go wire to wire at the U.S. Open (without sharing the lead after any round) since Martin Kaymer in 2014. Clark led by two shots after the first round and by four after the second.
Holiday Hopeful. Scottie Scheffler shot a third-round 69 to get to a tie for second place and into the final pairing with Clark. It's the world No. 1's 30th birthday and he's also celebrating Father's Day with his two children.
Big Numbers. Clark led by seven Saturday before a bogey at the 18th hole trimmed the gap. The largest major lead after 54 holes was Tiger Woods' nine-shot bulge at the 1997 Masters. No player has lost a 54-hole lead of more than six.
Clark and Scheffler will tee off Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
They'll be preceded by Emiliano Grillo and Sam Stevens at 2:08 p.m. and Tom Kim and Sahith Theegala at 2:19.
