College Football Recruiting: Updates & Predictions for Top Uncommitted Recruits

Randy ChambersDec 27, 2011

With the college football season coming to a close, it's about that time to look forward to the recruiting process. Which top players are going where and which teams can land the most impressive young talent?

Many of the top players have already decided which school they will be playing for, but there are still quite a few that still can't make up their minds. Some either still need to make a few visits, others need to see who the coach will be and others are leaving it a secret until we can't take it anymore.

Here are updates and predictions for the top five uncommitted recruits.

DE Mario Edwards

1 of 5

Update: Edwards has committed to Florida State, but is exploring his options still. He is considering LSU, Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma, which he recently visited.

Prediction

Schools like Texas and Oklahoma have the advantage considering he is from the Texas area. But I do believe he will stick with his commitment to the Seminoles.  His father played for Florida State back in the day, and they have a solid team with a great recruiting class.

He will fit in well.

OT Arik Armstead

2 of 5

Update: Armstead has visits already with Alabama, California, Notre Dame and Oregon. He will likely visit Auburn and Texas next, but Washington has quickly made an impact on him as well.

Prediction

California.

The Golden Bears are a program that is quickly turning around and becoming very competitive in the Pac-12. They have a fantastic recruiting class already, and the top offensive tackle prospect will fit in nicely over there. He would also be close to home, and since he wants to play basketball as well, the basketball program isn't too shabby, either.

WR Stefon Diggs

3 of 5

Update: Diggs is still heavily considering Florida, but the loss of offensive coordinator Charlie Weis has had a huge impact on him. Michigan, Oklahoma and USC, among others, are making a strong push for the speedy wide receiver.

Prediction

Michigan

Diggs appeared to be heading to Florida, but with the loss of offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, he has backed out. I see him heading to Michigan to fulfill one of the top recruiting classes in the country. The Wolverines have a lot to offer, and his playmaking ability would really complete one of the most talented teams in the country.

WR Dorial Green-Beckham

4 of 5

Update: The nation's No.1 wide receiver prospect is considering Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri, among others. He still has to make a few official visits before making a decision.

Prediction

Texas

Some of the top wide receivers to go to the NFL lately have come out of the Big 12. He'd be joining a talented, young team that appears to be on the rise after two sub-par seasons. It's also not that far away from his home in Missouri.

OT Andrus Peat

5 of 5

Update: Peat has taken an official visit with Texas and Nebraska, but also has interest in Stanford and FSU as well.

Prediction

Nebraska.

Peat really enjoyed his visit with Nebraska, and it helps that his brother plays football for the Cornhuskers as well. That alone gives it the edge over every other program, and I don't see him picking any other school but Nebraska.
