Bold English Premier League Predictions for the New Year
As we enter the new year, here are a list of bold predictions that I feel could unfold in the upcoming new year in the Barclays Premier League. Although this article is intended to shed a bit of fun on the EPL, I believe there is a possibility of each one coming to fruition. Anything can happen in the English league whether right or wrong, and it should be a very exciting finish to a very tight race for league champions as well as avoiding relegation.
Disclaimer: Predictions are both realistic and far-fetched, however, anything is possible when the ball is kicked off in England.
Arsenal Finish Below Top Four
1 of 6Despite a great midseason push to the top of the table, Arsenal will crumble when RVP loses his form and a weak bench is exploited due to a high frequency of difficult matches. Injuries in defense especially will catch up with the team.
Wenger's inability to land any players of significance in the January window will cause uprising and doubt once again in London. Although Arsenal's season won't be a complete failure, with many young players finishing strong, they will fail to land a Champions League spot which will result in Robin van Persie handing in a transfer request during the summer window.
Everton Are Relegated
2 of 6Everton collapse late in the season due to a Fellaini transfer late in January, as well as an inability to score. Landon Donovan will again show a great ability to play English football, but his efforts will not be enough to save the Toffees from relegation.
Upon relegation, Rodwell will ask for a transfer, landing with the Red Devils, much like Wayne Rooney did years prior.
Manchester United Buy Wesley Sneijder
3 of 6Sir Alex Ferguson will finally empty his pockets in January, landing Dutch international Wesley Sneijder. Sneijder will become an instant fan favorite with the Red Devils, but unfortunately this addition will not be enough to secure a league victory over Manchester rivals.
United will finish strong and look ever-dangerous closing out the season, with the early loss to City being a critical fault of their season.
QPR, Norwich and Swansea All Avoid Relegation
4 of 6Not too surprisingly, all three promoted sides—QPR, Norwich and Swansea—will retain top-flight positions with strong finishes to the season.
Seeing a surprise Everton team being relegated to the npower Championship for the first time in their club history. It could happen! Right?
Manchester City Win Three Trophies
5 of 6In a case of extreme gluttony, Manchester City will finish ever so strong, with three major trophies to add to their FA Cup win last season. City will be crowned league champions, win the FA Cup twice in as many years and in a surprise fashion, Mancini's boys achieve victory in the UEFA Europa League.
Mancini becomes instantly ingrained in Citizen folklore and Vincent Kompany proves himself to be City's most valuable player.
Thoughts or Predictions?
6 of 6The EPL is a wild league, where truly anything can happen and anyone can win on any given day. This article provides a few realistic and a few far-fetched examples of how the Premiership may end in 2012.
