BCS Bowl Predictions: Predicting the 3 Most Exciting Outcomes

T.J. McaloonDec 26, 2011

BCS bowl games are supposed to feature two evenly matched teams to bring about a thrilling finish to a great game. Usually, however, these are games that end as blowouts. However, these three games will end in a thrilling fashion that will have us talking about them for a very long time.

Rose Bowl Presented by Vizio: Oregon Ducks vs. Wisconsin Badgers

The Rose Bowl features two teams that are about as evenly matched as any teams in bowl games this year.

Both of these teams finished 11-2 this year, averaged 40 or more points and had four games in which they scored 50 points or more. On top of all of their points, each team finished in the top 10 in rushing yards per game and in the top 15 in total yards per game.

Each team is led by a lethal quarterback and running back combination. For Oregon, these are Darron Thomas and LaMichael James, while Wisconsin will counter with Russell Wilson and Montee Ball.

The game will come down to a final drive in which either Oregon or Wisconsin needs to move their team into field goal range with less than two minutes left. Then we will see a time-expiring field goal to clinch a huge victory.

Discover Orange Bowl: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Clemson Tigers

For a game that is not getting much hype, this year’s Orange Bowl is one of the better matchups.

West Virginia and Clemson finished the year averaging 35 and 34 points per game, respectively, while holding opposing teams to 26 points per game. Each team finished with a passing offense that ranked in the top 20 of the NCAA.

Even the oddsmakers recognize how evenly matched these two teams are with their point spread being only -3.5 in favor of Clemson.

This game will come down to which quarterback can limit his mistakes. When West Virginia’s Geno Smith and Clemson’s Tajh Boyd are on, they’re two of the better quarterbacks in the nation.

However, when they have off days, their offenses struggle, and the defenses cannot stay fresh, which end in bad losses.

All State BCS National Championship: LSU Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

It’s the BCS National Championship game between two teams that gave us one of the most thrilling finishes in college football this year. Their first game went to overtime with a final score of 9-6 when both teams had one week to prepare for each other.

Now, these two teams have had a whole month to prepare for each other.

We are going to see one of the best BCS National Championship games since the game's inception. These two teams have the two best defenses in the country and have two really good running games.

The final will come down to another late field goal in overtime. This time around though, the game will feature a little more scoring, with each team recording at least one touchdown.

These three BCS bowl games will all be worth the wait. They will have thrilling finishes, and will all have us talking for years to come about how great they were.
