Week 16 Fantasy Rankings: Ray Rice and Top RBs Destined to Scorch the Opposition

Patrick ClarkeDec 24, 2011

With the Baltimore Ravens set to take on the struggling Cleveland Browns for the second time in three weeks this Sunday, Ravens RB Ray Rice is a lock to dominate for Baltimore and lucky fantasy owners everywhere.

Rice ran for a season-high, 204 yards in Week 13 against the Browns on the road, and scored more than 25 fantasy points in ESPN leagues for the fourth time in 2011.

Rice only received 10 carries last Sunday against the Chargers, but the Ravens' ugly loss now means that the team must play all out to the finish in order to stay ahead of the Steelers in the AFC North.

That's good news for Ray Rice owners.

Outside of Rice though, here are the top RBs in Week 16:

No. 3: Willis McGahee (DEN)

The Denver Broncos, one of the league's top rushing teams will take on the depleted Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 16, where they play extremely well with quarterback Tim Tebow under center.

McGahee's hamstring is an issue, but like the Ravens the Broncos have yet to clinch their division, so McGahee will carry the ball more than sparingly.

The Bills defense ranks 30th against fantasy RBs and that should result in quite possibly, Denver's first blowout win of the season.

Tebow isn't the running back, and Lance Ball is rather unproven thus far this season, so if the Broncos have ground success, which they are almost guaranteed against Buffalo on Saturday, McGahee will be the producer.

No. 2: LeSean McCoy (PHI)

LeSean McCoy has been a flat-out beast all season long, and now that Michael Vick is back in the lineup for good, he has less eyes on him in the Philly backfield.

McCoy leads all fantasy RBs this season in scoring, and has rushed for over 100 yards six times this season, while scoring at least one TD in 12 of the Eagles' 14 games in 2011.

His matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve is a tough one, however, considering the 'Boys are ranked eighth in stopping opposing fantasy RBs.

No. 1: Maurice Jones-Drew (JAX)

The league's leading rusher with more than 1,300 yards through 14 games with the Jags will be an easy bet in Week 16.

Jones-Drew has yet to rush for more than 122 yards or less than 63 yards in a game all season, and that's called consistency.

The Tennessee Titans are bad—23rd against opposing fantasy RBs—so Jones-Drew and the Jacksonville O-line will look to pound the ball down their rival's throat.

Like Rice and McCoy, Jones-Drew's threat as a receiver give him added worth in your fantasy backfield in Week 16.
