Alabama Football: Deion Belue, JUCO DB, Commits to Bama for the Second Time
Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) The first time Deion Belue committed to the Tide, for the 2010 class, his grades just weren't up to standards and for the last two years, he has been at Northeast Mississippi Community College both polishing up his grades and his defensive-back skills.
Today he tweeted, "Felt good to sign them papers."
Belue has been waiting his time to finally join the team and as an early enrollee, he'll be on campus in January and will be one of the few who can be back counted into last year's class.
The University is holding off making an official announcement. Perhaps they want to see if all his classwork is in order and he'll meet all the requirements.
They don't want to have another situation like the one Duron Carter endured this year, whose paperwork and or classwork was not in order or didn't clear in time to allow him to play this season.
Belue is someone the UA staff felt could also help return kicks and punts.
Last season at Northeast Mississippi Community College, he had 20 solo tackles and four assists, one of them a 10-yard sack. He also had one pass reception for nine yards on his one offensive play.
But he had one interception he returned for 58 yards and a touchdown with eight pass break ups.
But where he really shined was in kick and punt returns.
He had 549 yards in kickoff returns and 144 in punt returns and scored two touchdowns in the process.
Expect more news on this in just a few days.
