Trade, Pick-Up, and Drop is a new Fantasy Tips exclusive, which entitles a list of players from the guard, forward, and center position that should be traded for, picked-up off the waiver wire, or dropped.
Check LayupDrill.com's Fantasy Tips section for more daily tips on how to improve YOUR fantasy NBA team.
Trade
Throughout the remainder of the NBA season, many players will see an increase in minutes and production. These players are not necessarily lacking in fantasy play, but will get a chance to improve their fantasy value in the weeks to come.
If you do not own the players on your fantasy team on the list below, I highly suggest you make some moves and propose a deal to the owner of these players before their value skyrockets.
Guard
Randy Foye (PG, MIN)
Foye is averaging 18 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.2 SPG, and has hit seven three-pointers in his last five games while playing 36.6 MPG.
Foye had a slow start to the NBA season and seems to have picked up where he left off last season. His production will rise as the season progresses and should be traded for before he starts to average big time numbers.
Just remember, Foye is only in his third NBA season and has tremendous upside to improve his play before the end of the year.
Forward
Jeff Green (SF, OKC)
Green is having a great sophomore season averaging 16.12 PPG, 6.12 RPG, 2.15 APG, and 1.15 SPG in 36.2 MPG, (all career-high averages). With only 33 games played so far, Green's production is destined to improve immensely.
Trade for Jeff Green in your fantasy league and you can guarantee his play will continue to improve for the rest of the season. Green is a future star in the making.
Center
Brook Lopez (C, NJ)
With all the talk about Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo, and Michael Beasley, it seems as if Brook Lopez is nowhere to be found—but with averages close to double-doubles a night, Lopez's game will surely be talked about shortly.
Brooke has grabbed eight or more boards in 18 games this season, including six double-doubles. Being just a rookie, you can expect Lopez's numbers to increase even more throughout the season turning him into one of the top 10 fantasy centers.
Pick-Up
Many players have great potential to average consistent fantasy numbers when given an ample amount of time to play. With players being added and dropped off the waiver wire on a daily basis, you need to know who is the right person to pick up.
The list of players below will help your fantasy team if you pick them up right now, before it is too late!
Guard
Kyle Lowry (PG, MEM)
Owned in 31 percent of CBS leagues.
Kyle Lowry has been logging starter minutes over the month of December. His fantasy value has already increased and looks to improve even more this season.
With Mike Conley now on the bench, Lowry is getting a chance to prove he is the better point guard. Lowry recently dished out a career-high 12 assists against the Timberwolves and is averaging 7.2 APG during his last five games.
Lowry is still available in a majority of fantasy leagues and should be picked up by you and your fantasy team NOW before someone else does.
Forward
Chris Wilcox (PF, OKC)
Owned in 36 percent of CBS leagues.
When averaging 30-plus minutes per game, Wilcox is known to transform into an absolute beast. On a slumping Thunder team, Wilcox's numbers are bound to increase in the weeks to come.
With his minutes on the rise, you can expect Wilcox to turn into a 14 PPG and seven RPG kind of guy with potential to average even more. Chris should be picked up in every fantasy league right now because of his ability to improve any fantasy team.
Center
Nenad Krstic (C, OKC)
Owned in 32% of CBS leagues
If you have an empty spot on your bench for the next week or two, Krstic is your man to pick up. With potential to turn into a 16 PPG and seven RPG kind of guy, Krstic's value will amplify the minute he steps foot on the NBA court.
Being only owned in 32 percent of leagues, Krstic is a very solid center that should be added on to any fantasy team.
Drop
Many NBA players lose minutes throughout the season to other teammates. They turn from a solid fantasy player into nothing more than a bench-warmer.
The list below shows a few players that are not worthy of owning on any fantasy team right now.
Guard
Ramon Sessions (PG, MIL)
After an excellent start to the NBA season, Sessions fantasy value has absolutely deteriorated.
Now as the back-up to Luke Ridnour and Charlie Bell, Ramon has averaged just 16 MPG in the month of December. His numbers have continued to go down each and every week and is not worthy of being benched on any fantasy team.
Unless Ridnour gets hurt, Sessions should be dropped and replaced by someone who has potential to produce.
Forward
Yi Jianlian (PF, NJ)
Yi is a very inconsistent sophomore with little fantasy appeal. Yi can play one game like an All-Star, and the next game you would not even know he was on the court.
He is not worth filling a spot on any fantasy team as of right now and should be dropped for a player with a better chance of producing.
Center
Samuel Dalembert (C, PHI)
After averaging a double-double with over two blocks per game last season, Samuel Dalembert looks like a totally different player this year.
Dalembert is only averaging 25.1 MPG this season with just six PPG with 8.42 RPG in 31 games. Dalembert is not worth owning on any fantasy team and should be dropped until he proves consistent once again.
