Latest Transfer News on Former Notre Dame QB Dayne Crist
As the college football bowl games are taking place and the recruiting is heating up, there is another story that fans should want to pay attention to.
That of course involves former Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist, who was given permission to explore other schools for a possible transfer. The schools he is currently looking at are Kansas, Wisconsin and Delaware.
Dayne Crist played three seasons with the Irish, but was benched last season after playing horrible in the Week 1 game against South Florida. He now wants to transfer to a school that he'll have a better shot at starting to finish out his college career.
While he is considering Wisconsin, there is a monkey wrench that has been thrown into this whole situation. According to reports, Badgers offensive coordinator Paul Chryst is being heavily considered to become the new head coach at Pittsburgh.
If Chryst becomes the head coach of the Panthers, Crist may decide to go with the Kansas Jayhawks.
At Kansas, he would be playing for newly-hired head coach Charlie Weis who recruited him while at Notre Dame. Crist says how important Weis has been in his career and his life and will be very big on whichever decision he makes.
"He's been supportive of me the last four years whether he was here or not," Crist told WNDU in South Bend. "Always staying involved in my life. Always helped me along and gave me advice even before he was at Kansas."
"I have a high comfort level with the offense he runs—know it very well. It would be a pretty good advantage walking in the door."
At this point, the former Irish quarterback may just be waiting for Chryst to make a move before he does.
But if there's one thing we know for sure, it's that Kansas or Wisconsin will likely have a new quarterback real soon.
