Funniest Soccer Referee Moments (Top 10)

The most difficult task in all of sports is, perhaps, officiating.

Sometimes, fans appreciate the ref for making a tough decision; while other times they want to jump into the TV and choke him for being a moron.

While refs have always generated controversy throughout the history of sports, sometimes they provide mere humor instead.

What I've done here is looked for some of the funniest moments in soccer that involve the ref.The result is my top 10 soccer funniest referee moments.

10. This Ref Gets Down

I have to apologize for the music in this video, but it's funny nonetheless.

This streaker thinks it's a good idea to attack the ref.

Big mistake.

Instead of immortalizing himself, he just embarasses himself.

9. Wrong Card, Ref

Ah, two teams we all know.

Here are AC Milan vs Inter Milan in a heated Italian league match.

Ronaldinho was arguing with the ref, who had had enough. So he pulls out... a red card?!

The ref quickly realizes his error and awards Ronaldinho what might be "the happiest yellow card of all time."

8. Referee Will Make Headlines with This...

Off of a corner kick, the ball is played into the box. After appearing to be headed the other way, one of the players sends in another cross. The ball then bounces of the ref and into the goal, making for an awkward this Turkish league game.

The worst part about this goal is that it occurs in the final moments of the game.

7. Referee Regret

In this video, it seems as if the game has come to a halt because a player is down. After the ref consults with his linesman, he goes into the crowd of players and awards one of them a red card.

Of course, the call is argued. But, this time, maybe the ref would actually regret his decision.

Then again, maybe the player in white exaggerated a bit.

Or a lot.

6. Toughest Referee EVER

This is an example of a player taking it way too far.

The ref awards the player a card and the dude snaps!

Unlike the last video, this ref actually defends himself. And not just against the initial player, but what appears to be the entire team!

Luckily, he isn't a WWE ref, because he would have gone down after the first slap.

Though it doesn't necessarily involve the ref too much, this video is one to watch.

This is a funny mistake by the player. The ref was talking to him, and then the player did what he would do with any male referee.

Too bad he forgot that a woman was officiating.

At least she didn't send him off.

This ref just cracks me up in the way he runs, awards cards, signals the next play, and finally bows.
