Week 16 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: 7 Best Matchups to Win the Championship

Bradlee RossDec 20, 2011

Looking for some good matchups for your fantasy squad? Come and get it!

It's down to crunch time in every fantasy football league, as playoffs are starting and players are shoring up their teams for a championship run. As with any week, there are some big matchups that fantasy owners should try to exploit to get big wins.

The seven best are right here for you, free of charge.

Reggie Bush vs. New England Defense

1 of 7

Reggie Bush will go up against a New England defense on Saturday that gave up 252 yards on the ground this past week against the Denver Broncos.

Add that to his skill as a pass-catcher and he is a huge weapon this week. He'll rush for over 100 yards against the Pats and catch a couple balls. Add him now if you can.

Pittsburgh Defense vs. St. Louis

2 of 7

The offense in St. Louis is in shambles. The offensive line is terrible, the receivers are young and bad, and Sam Bradford is hurt.

If you need a defense for this week, try and get this Pittsburgh unit.

Even if they are missing James Harrison and some other pieces, they will still dominate a St. Louis offense that has struggled to score against even the worst defenses.

Arian Foster vs. Indianapolis Defense

3 of 7

The parade for the Indianapolis Colts' lone win of the season will end abruptly Thursday night as Arian Foster has his way with their defense.

The Colts rank 28th in the league in rushing defense, allowing 138 yards per game.

Arian Foster is one of the best backs in the league. Plus, the Texans are starting a rookie at quarterback, and although T.J. Yates has looked good, it still means more carries for Foster.

Foster is tough to get if you don't have him, but he may be worth a costly trade.

Cam Newton vs. Tampa Bay Defense

4 of 7

Tampa Bay ranks 30th in the league in rush defense and 26th in pass defense. The Bucs have given up an average of 141 yards rushing and 248 yards passing per game.

Cam Newton will have a good shot at getting all that just by himself.

The rookie will have another career day, scorching the Buccaneers defense on the ground and through the air.

Ray Rice vs. Cleveland Defense

5 of 7

Ray Rice is the best fantasy football player in the league right now. But this week will be on a whole different level even for him.

The Cleveland Browns are third in the NFL in pass defense, but are nearly dead last at defending the run.

The Ravens will look to Rice early and often in this game, and he'll run all over the Browns defense.

San Francisco Defense vs. Seattle Offense

6 of 7

The Seattle Seahawks are the most mediocre team in the NFL. They rank in the mid-20s in both pass offense, rush offense and total offense. Those stats are more than likely due to nonexistent quarterback play.

The San Francisco 49ers are the exact opposite. They are the overachievers this year and are poised to gain home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Their defense ranks first in rush defense and 12th in pass defense, and they'll rack up the fantasy points shutting down a sputtering Seattle offensive attack.

Tim Tebow vs. Buffalo Defense

7 of 7

Denver has the No. 1 ranked rushing offense in the league. Buffalo is giving up 140 yards per game on the ground.

Tim Tebow can run the ball like a halfback and can even throw when he needs to. Buffalo will try to stop the run, but Tebow and Denver will run on them anyway. The run will open up the pass, and Tebow will rack up fantasy points on the ground and in the air.

Look for Tebow to have over 200 yards passing and at least 75 yards rushing, but possibly more.
